Samantha Oh - Human Resource Business Partner

1. What does a typical day look like for you in your role??

My day typically starts with much-needed coffee and breakfast to fuel up. Then, I dive into reviewing emails and prioritising tasks to ensure I tackle the most pressing needs first. Meetings are constant throughout the day, keeping me in touch with different departments and discussing matters such as staffing needs, performance reviews, and policy changes.?

Recruitment is a big focus, so I might be reviewing resumes and applications for open positions or even conducting interviews with promising candidates. Supporting the team is crucial, so I'm also there to address employee concerns or conflicts, offering guidance and ensuring everyone feels supported. Onboarding new hires is a rewarding part of the job. I help them complete paperwork and get acclimated to the company culture, making them feel welcome and prepared to contribute.?

2. What aspect of your job do you find fulfilment in, and why????

As a HR Business Partner at GoNetZero?, I find fulfilment in empowering employees to grow and succeed, building strong relationships with colleagues and leaders, driving business success through strategic planning, and creating positive changes in the organisation. Knowing that my work has a meaningful impact on people's lives and contributes to the company's growth is incredibly rewarding. I feel fortunate to be in a role where I can make a difference and help create a supportive and inclusive work environment.?

3. What techniques help you stay organised and productive??

I maintain my organisation and productivity by prioritising important tasks over urgent ones. To-do lists are a key tool for me. Additionally, I find a quiet space and activate DND (Do Not Disturb) mode on Microsoft Teams to focus on completing my deliverables. I also have a daily habit of clearing my emails and categorising them into folders. Less urgent emails are labelled under a dedicated 'To-Do List' folder in Outlook, allowing me to start fresh each day.?

4. Is there any cause that you are passionate about??

I am passionate about sustainability and reducing paper waste. I am also a strong advocate for pet adoption, adopt don't shop! (Just in case you are looking to adopt, we adopted our family dog from https://www.justforpaws.org/). In my free time, I enjoy baking healthier treats for my family and me.?

5. What are you currently doing for fun or to challenge yourself??

I am currently working on a paint-by-numbers project. It is a fun challenge that is testing my focus!?
