Employee Spotlight: Ross Sutton
C.L. Electrical Controls Limited
Manufacturer and installer of Mobile and Fibre Telecoms Cabinets, BEMS Control Panels and Huber+Suhner UK Sales Partner
Welcome to the newest instalment of our Employee Spotlight series. Throughout the series we are showcasing a number of our expert staff as well as career opportunities at CL Electrical.
This week we interviewed Ross Sutton, our Installations Manager.
Tell us about yourself:
I started work for CL Electrical Controls in 2018 as an electrician, after leaving Jeffway Electrical. In January 2023 I was promoted to Installations Manager which means I now manage the entire site installation team across telecoms, general electrical and BMS.
I am a qualified electrician with over 15 years’ experience in the industry which has helped with my new role hugely.
Outside of CL Electrical Controls, I love a round of golf. Family time is also really important to me, I thoroughly enjoy coaching my daughters cricket team, after retiring from playing the sport myself.
Tell us about your day to day activities:
I spend most days working from the office. I can be found at my desk coordinating my teams, their jobs and who needs to be where when, I have also moved into assisting with quoting new jobs as another string to my bow.
My job varies, sometimes I am still needed on site and can rely on my skills as an electrician to support my team directly, but usually I am in the office in my role as chief organiser and trouble shooter.
What is it like to work for CL?
It’s a great place to work and its nice to be part of a business that’s ever growing. Especially with the new challenges that, that brings.
The thought process to work through and overcome challenges is also one of the things I love most. At times it’s really rewarding, and its nice to see projects we undertake come to fruition. We make a difference to the lives of most of the British public and I think that’s definitely something to be proud of.
I am also incredibly proud of my team and what they achieve week on week. I can rely on each and every one of them to show up and be the best. For example, we recently had a ?huge incident whereby two vehicles crashed into one of our telecoms cabinets, my team mobilised on a Saturday morning, their first day off after working all week, and got everything back up and running- which was pretty outstanding.
My office has a nice feel, everyone works to support one another and the directors are good as gold, arguably the best bosses I’ve ever had.
Would you recommend CL?
Yes, if you want an opportunity to learn, progress, rise to new challenges then it’s a great place to be.
