Employee Spotlight: Ray Mao

TripleLift empowers all employees to give recognition to peers and managers. The Good Managers Award is given to managers who demonstrate TripleLift’s core values, uplift their teams, and practice impactful and wide-ranging behaviors that contribute to the overall success of the organization.?

Ray Mao, Director of Campaign Management for North America, is one of the six H2 2023 Good Manager recipients. Ray is the definition of a “true believer” in TripleLift. He demonstrates the core value of “Own Your Piece, Know the Puzzle” by looking at the big picture to align his team to make the largest impact on the company vision. While supporting company goals, Ray also looks to empower his team with professional development opportunities resulting in individual growth.?

Question 1: Can you describe what type of work you do and why it’s critical to TripleLift?

A strength of mine is being able to collect and analyze data. I think making decisions for the org from data has improved the operational efficacy of the team. Since we work with so many teams internally, these changes can have a positive downstream impact to everyone we work with.?

Question 2: What's your favorite part about your role?

Seeing the growth and development of my team is especially rewarding. The experience specifically at TL has been unique due to the long tenure employees tend to have here. I have a handful of direct reports that I still manage since I first started four years ago and it is fulfilling to see how far we’ve all grown.?

Question 3: In my career, I'm most proud of…

I can’t say for certain what I’m most proud of but the Living the Values award for being a good manager is up there for me. People managing can feel rewardless at times, especially compared to being an individual contributor, so recognition for it hits differently.?

Question 4: Name one thing most people don’t know about you.

I’m obsessed with the show Alone and secretly wish I could be a participant on it one day. I think I’d be a pretty strong asset during the Zombie Apocalypse.?
