Employee Spotlight: Minh

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and landing a junior position in the finance team of a fast-growing fintech company in Melbourne, Minh came to Canada in 2020 for further education and joined RemitBee in 2021 after graduation. As a newcomer, she was already aware of online money transfer services through international student platforms and immigrant communities. She came to know about RemitBee while searching for a job and got interested in the values that Remitbee offers and decided to apply. During her interview, she noticed that the questions focused on the candidate’s technical knowledge as well as other soft skills that can enhance the employee’s performance which showed the company’s commitment to finding people who have the knowledge and will to do the work.?

“As a foreign student and now, a foreign worker, I’ve had first-hand experience with international money transfer and the high costs involved when going through conventional banks. I understand that services like RemitBee is necessary and valuable to me and many other immigrants,” shares Minh. Her work as an Accounting Clerk at RemitBee involves daily bookkeeping as well as working with the CSR team to help resolve certain inquiries from customers, including identifying and investigating transactional issues, which helps bring to attention potential issues. She believes that a major benefit of working for a growing company is being exposed to various projects and facing new challenges with a lot of learning avenues that help gain invaluable work experience in a fairly short time.??

However, most introverts will be able to relate with Minh when it comes to voicing out opinions and ideas. She shared that it was one of the challenges she faced in the beginning but was able to overcome in a matter of time with her managers’ support. She has learned how to take the initiative and confidently voice suggestions to help improve her own work and the business as a whole. Time management is also something she has learned to improve in her day-to-day work.??

“Compared to large corporations where inflexible hierarchy may be a challenge, RemitBee is very open to new ideas from employees of all departments. I feel comfortable approaching management with my concerns and recommendations.
