Employee Spotlight: Melaina Aglieco

Melaina joined the Blue Beyond team as our Business Development Associate in May 2021, bringing years of experience in the field and proven expertise in process improvement, competitive analysis, and data management. Prior to Blue Beyond, she worked for a $200 billion global asset management firm, where she served as a Business Development Senior Associate and was a key member of a sales operation team responsible for RFPs, data management, quarterly updates, and database management. Melaina holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant University, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Communications. During that time, she was a member of the NCAA Division I soccer team.?Melaina is known for her adaptability, teamwork, and ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What led you to Blue Beyond?

I stumbled upon Blue Beyond by chance, and during the interview process, it became evident how passionate each team member is about their work and the impactful contributions Blue Beyond makes for our clients. This inspired and excited me about the opportunity to learn and grow surrounded by intelligent and motivated colleagues.

What is one of the most exciting or meaningful projects you've been a part of so far?

Building the first marketing and sales analytics dashboard. Over the last few years, we have made a strong push to become a more data-driven organization, and developing the dashboard has been integral for information sharing. This has helped many BB’rs to “speak the same language” because we all know what we are referencing and how we are progressing towards our goals.

What are you hoping to accomplish here at Blue Beyond?

At Blue Beyond, our work involves engaging leaders and employees from a variety of industries, geographies, and functional areas to unlock the potential of their people and programs. Our clients are bringing cutting-edge technologies to market, working towards housing affordability, and saving lives through the development of innovative medicines, just to name a few examples. I hope to continue partnering with our clients to help create thriving organizations where teams are empowered and positioned for impact.

Blue Beyond recently refreshed its values. Which value resonates most with you and why?

One of Blue Beyond's refreshed values is "Learning for a Living," and this is the one that resonates with me the most. It has always been important for me to step outside of my comfort zone, continue to learn new things, and stay curious in order to grow both personally and professionally.

Where do you find joy and passion in your work?

As a member of the internal team here at Blue Beyond, I find passion in supporting our consultants and ensuring they have what they need to excel in their work with our clients. Whether it's creating new processes, providing supporting materials, or identifying opportunities for improvement, we are dedicated to making their day-to-day lives easier. We are here to help!

Tell us about what you are passionate about outside of work.

I started playing soccer when I was young and played competitively throughout high school. I have always loved being a part of a team and working towards a goal, and I always knew that it was something I wanted to continue doing as long as I could. Playing in college was a great opportunity to continue playing while also getting a great education. Soccer has provided me with many opportunities, such as traveling around the country, finding my closest friends, and learning transferable skills that have helped me professionally.

Once I graduated and moved to East Boston, I was looking for a way to get involved in the community and found an organization called "Soccer Without Borders" (SWB). SWB is a global nonprofit with a Boston branch that I have been volunteering with, and it is one of my favorite things to do outside of work. I feel such a strong community connection, and I love working with the kids from the local neighborhoods, just running around and having fun. The mission statement of SWB is to ensure that every youth has a safe environment to play, learn, and grow, and being a small part of that has been so fulfilling over the last few years.
