From researching coral reefs to designing innovative sustainability projects, Simone has had a unique journey to her current role at Georges River Council. Now, Simone leads initiatives to integrate sustainability and net-zero practices into the Council’s operations.

From Ocean Researcher to Sustainability Leader at Georges River Council

After studying Biology and Ecology at UNSW, Simone travelled the world as a professional diver and coral reef researcher, before starting her own hydroponics company. Now, Simone brings her passion for the environment and sustainability to her role at Georges River Council. As part of the Council’s sustainability team, Simone’s role is project-based, focusing on finding opportunities to integrate sustainability and net-zero practices into both Council operations and the local community. From designing innovative projects to reduce emissions to hosting community events that encourage eco-friendly living, Simone plays a key role in driving positive environmental change.
