We're excited to highlight another standout member of the Latitude team! This month, we're proud to introduce Anthony Carabasu , our Senior Consultant, whose deep expertise and unwavering commitment continue to fuel our success and drive innovation.

1. Favorite part about working at Latitude?

I really enjoy how almost everyone employed at Latitude is familiar with each other, where we all have our friendly relationships both inside and outside of work hours. Although I am tasked to a client based outside of PA, I do occasionally come down from NY to the PA office and intermingle with my co-workers both while we’re working, and after business hours for a variety of activities—some of which include going to the gym, rock climbing, attending hockey games, or even just having dinner together. I’m always excited to see the rest of the team, and it feels mutual from my co-workers as well.?

2. How did you get into the industry or connected to Latitude?

At the end of 2021, after I applied for the position I’m currently in online, I received an email from our CEO Mark Ferrari requesting to connect and chat on the phone.? The call was only scheduled for 30 minutes and was setup as an interview, and as anyone would expect, we spent those 30 minutes talking about the position and cyber security in general. After the 30 minutes passed however, I asked Mark about his time in the Air Force knowing that we were both veterans and wanted to glean more information about him outside of the formal interview setting, and we had a longer chat about our experiences despite going over the allotted time. My impression then was that he is an amiable but still serious man, who had an interest in learning more about me beyond simply whether I could competently perform the job, which resonated well with me then. The nature of the position was one that I felt I could grow and apply my skills, and I was interested in Latitude from there and excited to accept the job when offered.

3. What’s the best advice you have ever heard?

Speak clearly and mean what you say. There is nothing more capable nor dangerous than an articulate individual.

4. In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am proud of the meaningful progress and changes I helped strategize and put into effect at my client’s enterprise security program. To name a few, we have made great strides in our vulnerability management program to the point where our overall patch status is the best it has ever been, we’ve enforced MFA for remote access, and greatly improved our users’ education and vigilance against outside phishing threats.

5. Outside of work, what are your favorite hobbies or interests?

I am currently a member of my Volunteer Fire Dept. in Scarsdale NY, where I am working towards completing and obtaining my certification so that I can answer calls and help serve my community. Fitness is very important to me, and I am frequently weightlifting at my local gym throughout the week. I also love watching movies in theaters, cooking with and spending time with my wife.?

6. Can you recall a memorable or fun moment you’ve had at work?

Every month I travel to one of our hospital campuses and speak to new hires at their orientation about the importance of IT Security and best security practices at our enterprise. Most of the time during these orientations, I get numerous thoughtful and interested questions from the new hires which is always very comforting to see and hear. In cyber-security, it’s not only about utilizing the best available technologies to fortify your institution but encouraging and educating your userbase to have the requisite enthusiasm to take security seriously and exercise good security hygiene when on the web.
