Employee Spotlight: Emily Cox

Get to know Emily Cox – Quality Operations Specialist, here at Caligor Coghlan !?

What is a Quality Operations Specialist???

Quality Operations Specialist is a niche position created as a bridge between the Quality Assurance unit and Operations departments with the goal of facilitating and executing ongoing quality-backed and quality-controlled process improvements.

When and why did you join CalCog?

I joined CalCog in February 2023. Two CalCog employees that I had previously worked with referred me! Their description of CalCog’s mission & culture aligned with what I was searching for in my next role, and I am incredibly grateful for their support and encouragement during my application, interview, and onboarding.???

What is your favorite part of working at CalCog???

As truly enjoyable as I view the day-to-day tasks/endeavors associated with quality operations, the relationships I have built since joining the team are by far my favorite part of working at CalCog. Having physical locations in the US and UK (as well as remote team members scattered across both countries) generates an opportunity for intra- and inter-national engagement on a scale I had not experienced prior to CalCog and am eager to explore each day.??

What skill do you leverage most at work?

Effective communication is the skill I strive to leverage most within my role in quality operations. I firmly believe that trust is inherently critical for success on all fronts, and that trust is developed through open lines of dialogue centered on the understanding that “nothing is too great to overcome,” which builds a common ground (and goal) between all involved parties to help focus conversations and drive actions along the path forward.??

What was your job?

My first paying job (outside of babysitting) was receptionist work at a hair salon/spa when I was 16. It was a great introduction into schedule management, customer service, inventory, and non-verbal cues (are you sure you are happy with your service…?).?

What are 3 fun facts about you?

  1. I have two siblings, an older sister and twin brother, but my sister and I are more often assumed to be the twins.
  2. My dog’s name is Pants!?
  3. I have broken both bones in my right forearm twice, yet somehow never developed ambidexterity.?

I am most proud of...??

Graduating with honors from Baylor University with a B.S. in Biochemistry!??

What clinical trial supply industry trend are you most excited about?

I am eager to see developments to the digital side of clinical trial supply management. With the recent news of a cyberattack that impacted logistics within the greater pharmaceutical industry, there is increased discussion surrounding the need for improved cybersecurity, and I am looking forward to future achievements in that regard.??

Who is your personal hero and/or professional mentor?

My personal hero (and, coincidentally, also my professional mentor) is my mother. She instilled in me the “nothing is too great to overcome” mindset that I mentioned earlier, which can be applied to any situation in any facet. A life goal of mine is the unlikely feat of achieving anywhere near my mother’s level of mental/emotional strength, passion for growth, and genuine desire to positively impact every person with whom she interacts.??
