Meet Emily Bergquist, Social Media Associate Manager of GreatPetCare?!

To continue showcasing our superb team members at GreatPetCare?, we want to introduce Emily Bergquist!

What does your job entail?

"I run all the social channels across GreatPetCare? which includes @dogsofinstagram, @greatpetcareofficial on IG, and on TikTok and Threads. I also manage our influencer campaigns where we work with brands over a period of 3-5 months to find them influencers to create content and market on their pages, and run our quarterly Giveaway programs on @dogsofinstagram."

When did you first know that you wanted to pursue a career in this field?

"I started out in customer care, and then additionally started running a few small social media accounts for our brands. In 2020, when we acquired @dogsofinstagram and @dogsoftiktok, I fully transitioned to social media. As a writer, I’ve always been interested in storytelling and story arcs, so social media marketing and focusing on how to tell a brand’s narrative in an organic way felt like a natural career to pursue."

Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

"As a writer, I was originally looking for work in the realm of publishing houses, but was disheartened by the corporate world and lack of creativity in the job positions. A friend who worked in the start-up world encouraged me to look into start-ups instead as they are more fast-paced and allow for more creativity. My first start-up position was at a ride-share app, and I liked it, but I wasn’t passionate about the ride-share industry. I soon found a position at a very small dog-walking start-up where I was mainly in charge of customer experience. It was incredibly fun and I learned a lot about overall operations.? When COVID hit, our small company was forced to sell, but fortunately, we landed in great hands with GreatPetCare? where I’ve been ever since."

What do you like most about GreatPetCare??

"I could not ask for a better team to work with! Absolutely love being part of a team that encourages brainstorms, testing new things out, being transparent, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and focusing on mental health is super inspiring. I also LOVE working in dog content, helping pet parents have better access to information, helping vets better share information with their patients and pet parents, and spreading the joy of dogs with our audience!"

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

"I’m a poet by trade and work with The Poetry Society of NY where we produce The Poetry Festival of New York City, regular reading series, workshops, salons, as well as a literary immersive cabaret called The Poetry Brothel where I perform under the pseudonym, Monah Mayhem."

What are some books you’ve read recently?

"Sum by David Eagleman, A Burning by Megha Majumdar, and This Body I Wore by Diana Goetsch."

What’s a cause you’re passionate about?

"Animal Rescue!"
