Employee Spotlight - David Balo
1. Can you tell us about your career journey and how you ended up in your current role at Brainomix?
After earning my degree in electrical engineering, I began my career as an IT technician, where I gained invaluable experience in building computer networks and managing IT infrastructure. This foundational knowledge paved the way for my transition into a sales manager role at a global IT solutions company, a pivotal moment in my career. There, I honed my ability to understand client needs and deliver tailored technology solutions, which greatly developed my business acumen.
Driven by a fascination with the technologies used in healthcare, I made a significant career shift over 15 years ago into the field of medical technology. Starting as a service technician, I eagerly specialized further, becoming an application specialist in ultrasound imaging. This role provided me the privilege of collaborating with healthcare professionals across various countries.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to join Brainomix as a Territory Healthcare Manager, at a time when the use of AI in clinical practice was still emerging. Initially, there was some uncertainty as the potential of AI in healthcare was just beginning to be recognized. However, embracing this opportunity has led to an incredible journey. Being part of Brainomix has allowed me to witness and contribute to the implementation of cutting-edge AI solutions that have made a significant positive impact on patient health.
2. What does a typical day look like for you?
Every day brings new challenges and opportunities in my role as a Healthcare Manager at Brainomix, where I primarily oversee the implementation of Brainomix 360 across various sites. My core responsibilities include regular updates and providing ongoing technical support to ensure the system functions optimally and meets user satisfaction.
However, my role extends far beyond these technical aspects. I am often the first point of contact for clients, negotiating terms of collaboration, managing the contractual process, and overseeing the system's implementation. I also offer continuous user support, making my daily tasks quite varied and dynamic.
My day-to-day activities range from administrative duties and performing system installations and updates via remote access to personal visits to client sites. These visits can involve pre-installation meetings, the installation process itself, training sessions, or follow-up support. Given the extensive region I cover, travel is a significant aspect of my job. This variety in my routine keeps the work engaging and rewarding, allowing me to address a broad spectrum of challenges.

3. How do you build and maintain strong relationships with our customers from a technical standpoint?
Building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers begins with a personal and individualized approach. I believe in treating customer needs with the same care and attention I would expect if our roles were reversed.
From a technical perspective, I prioritize a comprehensive understanding of our solution, encompassing both clinical and IT/technical aspects. This breadth of knowledge enables me to serve as a single point of contact for our customers, effectively addressing any questions or concerns they might have. Our clients consistently appreciate this integrated approach, valuing the flexibility and expertise I bring to the table.

4. Can you share a memorable experience or project you’ve worked on at Brainomix?
I had the privilege of leading two particularly memorable and unique projects at Brainomix, both notable for their scale and execution.
The first project, POLKARD in Poland, began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We implemented our solution in 17 complex stroke centers nationwide. Despite severe travel restrictions and limited hospital access, we completed the installations within an ambitious two-month timeframe. This achievement demonstrated our team's resilience and adaptability.
The second significant project was a nationwide implementation in Hungary. While the preparation and approval process took several years, the actual implementation phase had to be completed in just a few weeks. By leveraging a centralized solution and collaborating closely with a local partner, we successfully executed the project on time. This experience underscored our ability to adapt quickly and deliver results under tight deadlines, despite the long lead time.
Both projects were challenging yet rewarding, showcasing our team's capability to deliver high-impact solutions and reflecting our commitment to excellence.
5. What hobbies/activities do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I have a deep passion for craftsmanship, which is reflected in many of my hobbies. I often engage in projects involving wood, metal, and leatherwork. Alongside these craft projects, I enjoy regularly baking sourdough bread.
To complement my creative pursuits, I sing in a mixed choir, which allows me to express my love for music. Additionally, I stay active through running, swimming, and mountain biking, which help me maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
A huge thank you to David Balo for his hard work each and every day. Brainomix wouldn't be quite the same without you.
