Employee Spotlight: Chatting with Magdalena Krasinska

What inspired you to pursue logistics as a career??

From the moment I first learned how goods move from one place to another, I was hooked. Growing up in Poland, a logistics powerhouse, I was surrounded by the world of transport and knew this was where I wanted to make my mark. My curiosity about logistics wasn’t just a passing interest—it was a passion that was fuelled on when I was hitchhiking across Europe, often catching rides with truck drivers who shared stories about their journeys. I think this helped lead me to where I am today.?

??

Let’s go off topic for a moment... you hitchhiked across Europe in HGV’s??

It was back when I was 18 and in my early twenties! I hitchhiked from Poland to Prague, Poland to Holland and other destinations across Poland. It was just a much cheaper way to travel back then, when I was on a budget. Me and a friend even took part in a race from Poland to Amsterdam. There were a few people taking part in this race but there would be queues for the buses, so we thought we’d use our secret weapon and hitchhike and camp along the way instead.?

Most of the people we’d met had been hitchhiking themselves before so that’s why they took us in, and truck drivers happened to be the main people to stop. We’d chat away and speaking to these HGV drivers really helped drive my interest in these movements. I became familiar with the trucks and naturally led me into logistics.?

?

Amazing! So, back to it... how did your journey in logistics begin???

I knew logistics wasn’t just a passing interest; it was a passion. Determined to make it my career, I moved to the UK to study Business and Supply Chain Management. My first role was an imports internship, which quickly turned full-time. Then, when Unsworth headhunted me for an Import Coordinator position, I seized the opportunity. It was more than I expected—not just handling imports but also managing cross-trade operations across countries like Spain and Poland. This was where I found my true calling, as the challenges and variety kept me engaged and constantly learning.?

??

How has your role evolved at Unsworth??

I’ve been fortunate to experience rapid career growth, earning two promotions in just four years. Moving into a supervisor role was a major milestone—not only managing operations but also leading a team through challenges. I now oversee a team of four, balancing leadership with hands-on involvement to ensure they feel supported and empowered.?

??

What's it been like managing your own team??

Moving into a supervisor role has been one of the most significant milestones in my career. It’s not just about overseeing operations—it’s about leading a team, motivating them through challenges, and showing that hard work and dedication truly pay off. Managing my team of four has taught me the importance of balancing leadership with hands-on support, ensuring they feel both encouraged and empowered to excel.?

Being trusted with a supervisory role meant a lot to me. It was my first step beyond individual operations into managing both my team and their workflows. I work hard to keep the team motivated, especially on days when tasks might not be the most enjoyable, but we still need to give our best. Learning to support their mindset and build resilience has been key, and I’m proud of the growth we’ve achieved together.?

?

What’s next for you in your career??

I’m excited about taking on even larger operations and more responsibility. I believe that learning never stops, and there are always new challenges to tackle. Patience has been a valuable lesson—success comes from adapting and enjoying the journey as much as the destination. I look forward to contributing even more to Unsworth’s growth and helping our clients achieve their goals.?
