Employee Spotlight: Charles Thembo Lwanga, Chief Technical Officer.

Say hello to Charles, the tech expert who keeps everything running smoothly at AgroSupply. As our Chief Technical Officer, he’s in charge of our computer systems and finding new ways to use technology to help our team and support farmers. Charles loves solving problems and ensuring our tech is up to date so we can work better and smarter.

• What’s the coolest tech gadget you can’t live without?

An HP Laptop computer connected to a power supply and the internet.

• Describe a typical day in your role as an ICT specialist.

I get to office by 7:45 am, read through whats trending, look through my emails. If there is any email that I need to attend to, I do immediately. Then after I look at my to do list for the day (I normally have this done the day before), I start working on those items one at a time.

But in between, my fellow staff keep bringing in ad-hoc requests that I frequently attend to as well. Being a one-man department, it is a task-switching process all through, but I always make sure nothing stops in the pipeline because of me.

• What’s one app or software you think everyone should know about?

I spend most of my time in Visual Studio code and PuTTY

• Have you ever had a memorable tech mishap? How did you fix it?

The cloud service provider hosting the software tools shut down my servers without informing me, the process took 48 hours. For the applications that could not wait, I had to get a temporary server and host them there because I always have a data backup.

• If you could develop a new tech tool for Agro Supply, what?would?it?do?

I would like to come up with an online marketplace for Agrosupply products.
