In honor of Women's History Month, we're highlighting Carolina, an outstanding individual and valuable member of the 2IM team. Carolina Grajales Ayala joined 2IM Group in 2019 as an experienced drainage engineer with over ten years of experience as a sanitary and environmental engineer. Specializing in drainage systems, she plays a pivotal role at the Illinois Department of Transportation, contributing to projects such as the I-80 and O'Hare 21 Program's Lead Tunnel Design. Carolina's expertise covers a wide range of aspects in drainage planning, including updating hydraulic models and analyzing data for alternative plans.?

What projects are you working on right now???

• Illinois Department of Transportation, FAI Route 80 (Interstate 80) River Road to Houbolt Road. Developed Proposed Drainage Plan. Hydraulic calculations, OpenRoads/Drainage Hydraulic Model, and Phase II plans.?

• Illinois Department of Transportation, assisted in the development of hydrologic and hydraulic reports for the reconstruction of Illinois Route 2.??
• Lewis Avenue Phase I Preliminary Engineering Study, Prepare Location Drainage Study for Lewis Avenue from IL Route 137 to Belvidere Road.? Development of the Proposed Drainage Plan: Calculations of existing release rates, and the development of a Hydraulic Model for both existing and proposed conditions and plans.?

What have you learned while working at 2IM Group?

I have developed expertise in Hydraulic Modeling Programs. I have recently earned a specialization in “Analysis and Design of Water Networks.” I look forward to learning new engineering skills and am continuously working on drainage projects where I work with a team to collectively reach a final objective.?

What do you like to do in your free time???

I like to spend my free time with my family and friends. ?I also enjoy reading a good book and exercising outside of work.?
