Employee Spotlight: Brynn Chapman Laboratory & Facilities Manager

Allow us to introduce you to this month's employee spotlight:?Provivi, Inc. 's Laboratory and Facilities Manager, Brynn Chapman! Based in Redondo Beach, California, Brynn is our point of contact for safety, lab operations, and event coordination. She works closely with scientists and ensures that all facility conditions are comfortable, attractive, and energy-efficient.

How long have you been at Provivi? Tell us about your role.

I started working at Provivi in July 2017 after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I started as the Lab Tech and was then promoted to Lab and Facilities Manager in 2019. My role covers just about everything that goes on in Provivi, from safety and IT to new employee orientation and office management. I’m also a part of two company committees!?

What’s been your favorite project to work on during your time at Provivi?

?I really enjoy planning parties and events as part of the PPE (Party Planning and Events) Committee. It’s always a lot of fun picking out different activities, such as virtual trivia, and seeing everyone excited to hang out.

What Provivi core value resonates most with you?

Safer Every Day. I’ve been going on monthly safety inspections since I joined Provivi, and I have been a part of the Safety Committee since 2019. I also had to adjust and implement many new safety standards and procedures during 2020, which has really given me a new appreciation for safety as a core value.

?What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy kickboxing, rock climbing, and writing. I think everyone got exposed to my writing passion with all those Halloween poems I wrote for the PPE Committee Costume Contest this year(Sorry!). I also enjoy cooking and reading. Fredrick Beckman and Mary Roach are some of my favorite authors.

What’s your favorite quote?

?In my first or second week of working at Provivi, our CTO and Co-Founder, Peter, came into our Logistics and Shipping Manager, Nick’s, office where we were having a meeting and asked him to explain something. Nick did and finished with “I said this in the company-wide meeting just now.” Peter agreed but pointed out, “It’s not what you said, but what people heard.” I think about that quote every day. It’s become a favorite of mine because it applies so well to not only the workplace but life in general. Our words can significantly impact others, and we need to take that seriously whether we’re giving a company update or speaking with a stranger at a grocery store.
