Employee Spotlight: Brijesh Prabhu

The Innovators in Action (IIA) Awards program recognizes and rewards our best innovators at CommScope, celebrating their accomplishments, sharing their knowledge, and inspiring our culture of collaborative innovation. The program includes a Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes significant contributions during an employee’s career at CommScope.

CommScope’s most recent Lifetime Achievement Award winner is Brijesh Prabhu, Director of Continuous Process Improvement and Advanced Automation for the India Region. Brijesh is responsible for identifying waste in the business value stream and eliminating it using different business excellence programs and tools like Lean, Six Sigma and advance automation, and creating value to improve profitability through cost reduction projects.?

Brijesh joined CommScope in 2007, and during his 16 years at the organization, he has had the opportunity to work in different functions such as process engineering in discreet and continuous processes and as a CPI change agent at a regional and global level. Brijesh has led teams in facilitating innovation workshops to reduce waste and costs in our products and processes.?Last year, one of his teams developed a new cell design strategy, which significantly transformed?our base station antenna manufacturing processes.

Brijesh has also traveled to CommScope plants across the world, interacting with our global teams and building the skills and?confidence to solve complex problems. “After being in the telecom industry for the last 15 years, the most satisfying thing for me is solving any business problem that comes my way,” he stated. “I’m a keen observer of the processes, and what I do is all about perfecting processes. Driving change to achieve such perfection is endlessly interesting and rewarding.”

Speaking on CommScope’s culture, Brijesh applauds CommScope’s inclusive culture and an environment that fosters employees of diverse geographical and beliefs while working together as one strong team. He also spoke of the company’s open-door policy which promotes high integrity among the employees to ensure continuous improvement in everything we do.?

Inspired by Sadhguru (Jaggi Vasudev), Brijesh believes in opportunities to improve in everything we do, be it personal or professional, and to learn how to be a better person to contribute to the betterment of society.

Advice that Brijesh has for aspiring professionals looking to join the industry: “Operational excellence function is the change agent for any organization that is up against complex problems. When you want to make a change in any fixed processes, one will always encounter some level of inertia as everyone wants to remain in the status quo or their comfort zone. Keep at it without having any doubt about the final goal for the future state, and I am sure one will eventually achieve the final target. Don’t give up!”

Outside of work, Brijesh is an avid cricket player and believes that every game holds a lot of lessons that can be articulated in life from teamwork, sacrifices, leadership, helping others to succeed, celebrating successes, and coming out stronger after failures. “Everything that surrounds the game is beautiful and a great teacher”. He’s also fond of music to relax, concentrate and think better. Nature walks are another one of his hobbies; “the closer you are to nature, the more rooted you will be to yourself”, he says.?

Brijesh is elated about his selection for the Lifetime Achievement Award and the recognition for his hard work and dedication. He noted that the award reflects CommScope’s commitment to innovation and the tireless efforts of those he works with.

“To me, this award is just part of CommScope’s culture of continuous improvement and collaboration to overcome any challenges that come our way,” he said. “I accept this award on behalf of my Goa team. None of our achievements would have been possible without their talent and support.”
