What's it like to work here at Closure Technologies?
I'm treated as a person, not a number. My opinion is valued as an employee. Closure has top-notch talent and they support their employees anyway they can.
What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I'm reimagining a user interface to help improve the user experience and reduce both user error and time spent filling out a form.
What's the best advice you’ve ever received?
The idea of using "I" language in relationships (in general). It was mentioned in pre-marital counseling and I think, as a non-confrontational person, it helps me communicate better without invoking hostility.
What motivates you to work hard?
First, I would say my family. I need to be able to provide for them, so I need to make sure I'm putting my best foot forward. Second, I would say end-users of applications on which I work. I strive to help provide an easy-to-use UI and if they can't utilize the application efficiently, that motivates me to work harder.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
I'm passionate about exercise and trying to compete (in my age group) in sprint triathlons, 5Ks, and 10Ks. I'm also passionate about giving back to the community around me. I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I can live comfortably without the worry of knowing where my next meal is going to come from or what bill(s) I will skip this month so I can keep the lights on. I've been helping Closure orchestrate a handful of events to give back, such as Habitat for Humanity , Dulles South Food Pantry, Inc. , and Dulles South Soup Kitchen , just to name a few.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Any of the Apollo astronauts. I started becoming a space fan right at the end of the Shuttle era in 2011. We're now getting into the Apollo era of our generation (Artemis) and I'd just be curious to hear about their trips to the moon, walking on it, etc.
If we asked your friends to describe you in 3 words, what words would they choose?
Kind, Hard-working, Helpful
Tell us about a recent vacation you have taken
My family and I just took a trip to Hawaii (Oahu) and it was a blast. From seeing dolphins and sea turtles in their natural habitat, to snorkeling for the first time on the northwestern side, and zip lining through the northeastern coastal mountains, I could definitely see us going back, even though the price tag is steep.
A great friend and teammate. We definitely appreciate the 110% that you put forth in everything you do!
