Making Every Ride Meaningful?
For Ainsley, being a school bus driver isn’t just about transportation—it’s about shaping the start of her students’ days. She finds joy in the small yet impactful moments, from greeting students with a smile to enjoying the beauty of sunrises during her early routes.?
Ainsley shares a touching memory of a young student who stayed behind one day to help her put up the bus windows before heading home. When she thanked him and told him it wasn’t necessary, he replied, “I know, but you are nice to us, and I wanted to do something nice for you.” That simple act of kindness serves as a reminder of the connections drivers build with their students every day.?
?
The Role of a School Bus Driver?
Ainsley views her role as an opportunity to create a positive environment for children. “The bus is the start of their school day, and I genuinely believe that a fun, relaxing, and safe bus ride sets their day up to be a good one,” she explains.?
Her supervisor, Cathy Van Bommel , Area Manager at STC-Elgie Bus Lines, echoes this sentiment: “Ainsley’s outlook on her role is a blessing to her riders and our team. She brings kindness, hard work, and positivity to everything she does.”?

Staying Motivated Through Challenges?
Even on tough days, Ainsley remains motivated by her students. “It takes very little effort to be kind,” she says. “Knowing that I can help someone have a better day just by smiling or saying good morning keeps me going.”?
Her advice to new STA team members is simple yet powerful: patience and respect go a long way. “Yelling isn’t as effective as showing students respect from day one,” she advises. “Set clear expectations and offer gentle reminders. It creates a better atmosphere for everyone.”?

Looking Ahead with Gratitude?
Ainsley’s short time with STC-Elgie Bus Lines has already left a lasting impression on her team. “How exciting it is to have such a kind, hardworking person choose us,” Cathy says. “Cheers to Ainsley and her bright future here with STC-Elgie Bus Lines!”?
