Employee Highlight: John Dsouza

A little bit about John. ?

John first moved to Canada in 2004 at the age of 18 when he began attending the University of British Columbia (UBC). He graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology, and immediately took a position with Loblaw’s Management Program. Between 2009 and 2011, John worked as General Manager of the North Vancouver Superstore where he led 400+ employees and his team to 100 million dollars in yearly revenue.?

John first met Rahul Rao in an organizational behaviour class during their early years at UBC. Years later, through a mere coincidence, they landed in the same bar in downtown Bangalore and decided to catch up over a few drinks. At the time, Rahul had an idea for a business intelligence company which keenly peeked John's attention.?

John continued working at his career, building a clientele base in the niche of video analytics for surveillance and sporting events. Due to his success, John was head hunted by one of the world’s largest online content delivery platforms, Akamai Technologies. As a Program Manager at Akamai, John experienced first-hand the tools, technologies, and support systems used by large Fortune 500 customers. Something he applies to the operations at CloudAdvisors today.

In 2018, John reconnected with Rahul, who by now had co-founded another company, CloudAdvisors. Rahul convinced John to move back to Vancouver and take over operations at CloudAdvisors. The rest is history!

What do you like about working at CloudAdvisors?

“I love the “can do it” attitude we have here at CloudAdvisors. Through my role, I’ve had the opportunity to choose the direction of our operations and charter the course of the organization. It’s given me the freedom and flexibility to create features that I’m really proud of. Like our Solution Matching product, which has already become a game changer in the group benefits industry.?

I also feel lucky and incredibly proud to work alongside everyone on the CloudAdvisors team. Everyone brings their own unique background and individual skill set that makes them all invaluable team members”

What do you do outside of work for fun?

“Outside of work, I am a sports fanatic who loves to cycle. I follow soccer, cricket, and F1 religiously. On weekends I enjoy hiking in the mountains, in the summer you can find me kayaking BC’s extensive lakes and ocean.?

Growing up, I spent many months at sea with my dad who had a career captaining large ships. My dad has recently inspired me to complete my skipper’s license. I’m excited to begin sailing this summer!”
