Employee to Entrepreneur: Why I Took the Leap with Two Maids

Employee to Entrepreneur: Why I Took the Leap with Two Maids

You know that feeling when you're ready for something more? That's where I was about a year ago. I wanted to be my own boss, build something meaningful, and have the freedom to create my own success story. That's what led me to Two Maids. I've always enjoyed connecting with people and the idea of building long-term relationships with customers really appealed to me.

I was drawn to the idea of franchising because it offered a proven system and a strong support network. But what I didn't expect was just how rewarding this journey would be.

More Than Just Cleaning

Sure, Two Maids is a cleaning company. But it's so much more than that. It's about building relationships, providing a service that truly makes a difference in people's lives, and creating a positive impact in my community. I love getting to know my customers, and know that we're giving them the gift of time and peace of mind. I never realized just how much value our customers get from our service, they truly look forward to their appointments!

Unexpected Perks

One of the biggest surprises has been the opportunity to really dive into the customer experience. I'm constantly thinking about how to optimize every interaction, from the first phone call to handling the occasional (and inevitable!) hiccup. It's like a puzzle, and I love finding ways to make things even better. Building a team has been incredibly rewarding too.

Lessons Learned

It hasn't all been smooth sailing. One of my biggest challenges has been dealing with the "reactive" nature of the business. There are so many moving parts and little things that can impact our success. To tackle this, I've become laser-focused on the customer journey. How can we make every touchpoint as positive as possible? From the moment a customer visits our website to the way we handle a complaint, we aim to exceed expectations. We've implemented standards for everything, even down to the uniforms, and we're constantly adapting based on customer feedback. If you ever decide to get into business for yourself, or perhaps are a current business owner that's struggling a bit, map out the entire customer journey and prioritize areas for improvement. I guarantee it will have a positive impact on your business.

Another piece of advice is not to overestimate your projections. Coming from a sales background, I initially thought I'd be able to ramp up revenue quickly. While we've had some amazing months, others have been slower due to operational challenges that require attention, i.e. those non-revenue generating tasks that can't be ignored!

Why Two Maids Stands Out

One of the things I love about Two Maids is the emphasis on quality and professionalism. We hold our staff to a high standard. Everyone goes through standardized training that covers not just cleaning techniques, but also things like etiquette and professional conduct. Plus, we conduct thorough background checks to provide our customers with peace of mind. It's all about building trust and delivering a consistently excellent experience.

If you're thinking about challenging yourself and you're an entrepreneur at heart, feel free to DM me. I'm happy to chat more about my experience if it helps!
