Employee Engagement During Work From
Remote working has certainly been beneficial during the pandemic, and employee productivity has risen. However, with Work from Home in practice, organisations are greatly concerned about Employee Engagement.
This can easily be achieved, by-
- Feedback is an essential element in moving forwards to accomplish tasks at hand. For employees working from the office, it is simple, but for employees working remotely, it is even more important. Weekly one on one, or one to group video chats should be held to share feedback.
- Apart from sharing feedback, it is imperative to leave to accept feedback, too. This makes it a two-way exchange, with both sides profiting from the discussion.
2. Encourage Interactions:
- Working from office, it is easy to interact with each other through ‘water cooler chats’. However, doing so while working from home seems difficult. Instead, to generate a bonding, companies should regularly hold online team building sessions that are casual, and fun-themed.
- Additionally, organisations should use this opportunity to ensure that remote employees are kept in the loop of what is happening in the company, be it a new recruit, or new policies.
3. Recognition and Rewarding:
- It is imperative that efforts put in by all employees are recognized, and rewarded. Especially so, for remote workers, as their efforts can likely go unrecognized because they are not in the office space.
- A small reward, a few words of appreciation and acknowledgement of the work well done can go a long way in making the employee feel valued, which works positively for the organisation, too.
- Regular meetings to discuss work strategy, goals and expectations are a must, regardless of where people are working from. Requiring employees working from home to be present, and on time establishes a sense of routine that is familiar, and even required.
- Apart from the important meetings, let the employees working from home fix their own working times based on their comfort and convenience. This also shows the trust employers have in their employees’ sense of responsibility.
- It is not necessary to be all about work, all the time. Schedule breaks, or off times, where work discussions are avoided. Providing this break will also work well for the health and wellness of the employees.
- Organising streaming parties, online multiplayer gaming hours, or simply getting coffee and snacks delivered to all employees is another way to ensure that work remains fun and entertaining, thus indirectly increasing employee engagement.
A great read, communication with regular meets specifically is definitely key ??
