The Employee-Employer Relationship

The Employee-Employer Relationship

There have been many conversations/debates around how COVID-19 has seemingly forever altered the employee-employer relationship. To a degree it certainly has as employees continue to flex this shift in control.

This post isn’t about the debate on who has more power in the relationship. It’s more about how to balance out that power and understand that we all play a role in defining the employee-employer relationship no matter what side of the line you sit on.?

The recent economic downturn has slowed the mass exodus that we were seeing during the Great Resignation, but it does not mean employers can breathe a collective sigh of relief. On-going labor shortages continue to make it challenging to attract the right candidates. In addition, employee turnover is costly. A perfect example of this was when 4 million American workers quit their job in April of 2022.

Finding effective methods of attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent should always remain a priority, even during more uncertain economic times. Let’s start with what employees want. You may be surprised how simple it is to address these issues and some stats to support it.

#1 90% of employees believe it's important to receive recognition.

#2 83% pf employees say receiving rewards improves their productivity and loyalty.

#3 77%of employees want to be able to recognize their peers/co-workers.

Don't be shy to reach out to me to discuss how to implement and manage an effective employee reward program. You will be surprised how easy it is and how the effectiveness substantially out weighs the costs.
