Tired of Rising Costs and Shrinking Coverage? So are we. Let’s Fix That Together
Are you ready to be enlightened?
If you've been talking about insurance cards as the basis for healthcare access all this time, that is all wrong.?
While a medical ID card in your pocket may include the logo of the carrier who is financially responsible for filing and paying your medical expenses, it does not represent the healthcare services you receive.
The insurance industry has trained you to believe your health insurance and health care are one and the same, and that is not true.
Let me give you an example.
I just had a conversation with a Benefits Coordinator of a client of mine. Her company is using some innovative strategies for funding their health insurance, and they do not have a PPO network.
She was searching for an urgent care center for one of her employees but was unsuccessful because she didn't realize that the employee could choose to go anywhere.?Because they no longer had a PPO network the employee didn't have to choose between in and out-of-network.
In addition, their health insurance plan doesn't have co-pays. It includes a $2,000 deductible with 100% coverage once the deductible is met.?Sounds great, right???
When I look at that plan, I think that's fantastic!?I pay the first $2,000 and then I don't pay anything else??Great!
Yet, most people are uncomfortable with a plan like this because they are used to having a co-pay.?They are concerned about what it will cost when they have to go to the doctor or in this case urgent care center.??The same is true for their medications.

Without the presence of a drug co-pay, they don't know what their drugs are going to cost, and with the costs of medications running in the $100s today, this can be hard on an employee's budget.
There are solutions to solve these problems, but it's important to understand your culture to determine if the solutions are the right fit for your employees.?
The more you educate the more your employees know and the better consumers they become.??
Health care is more than just having an insurance card in your pocket.?In fact, your insurance card is NOT your health care.?
Good health care It's about being able to see a doctor when you're sick, getting the tests and treatments you need, and living a long and healthy life.
Building a solid health insurance plan is not a one-size-fits-all model.?It has to be tailored to the unique needs of each individual company.
A great health insurance plan includes access to great health care, from how we pay for care to how we deliver it.
