Emphasizing the Importance of First Aider Training: A Step Towards Emergency Preparedness & Response

Oasis Enterprises (Al Shirawi Group) took a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of it employees by conducting an initial phase of first aider training for the staff members. This initiative is part of its broader commitment to creating a safe work environment as stipulated in the emergency preparedness and response procedure of the organization.

Purpose and Structure of the Training Program

The primary purpose of our internal first aid training was to provide orientation, raise awareness, and conduct an initial evaluation of the shortlisted staff readiness to handle emergency situations. At least two attendees were chosen based on area-wise arrangements within the office, ensuring that each section of our workplace is covered and having a backup.

This internal training is a precursor to a comprehensive third-party Emergency First Aider training, which will culminate in the issuance of a certificate of competence in providing first aid from an accredited institution approved by Dubai Municipality . Our orientation training aimed to ensure that all participants gained the foundation of first aid principles, making them better prepared for the more in-depth external training.

Importance of First Aid Training in the Workplace and Beyond

First aider training is not just a regulatory requirement; it is a critical lifesaving skill that is relevant in emergency situations. In the workplace, having trained first aiders can be of great significance, including the tendency to preserve life, promote recovery and stopping a case from worsening. For daily life, these skills are equally important, providing individuals with the confidence and competence to respond effectively to accidents or health cases that may occur at home or in public places.

Our commitment to first aider training aligns with Dubai's regulatory framework, specifically Administrative Resolution No. (7) of 2022 and Dubai Municipality technical guidelines for First Aid Requirements (DM-PH&SD-P4-TG17), which reiterate the requirement to have certified first aiders in the workplace.

By complying with these guidelines, Oasis organization does not only meet regulatory requirements but also demonstrates its dedication to ensure employees health and well-being. The aforementioned regulations emphasize the importance of having trained first aiders on-site, adequate first aid consumable, and clear procedures for responding to medical emergencies.
