Happy New Year!

Apologies for this weather update being much later than planned and the only added value at this point is my emphasis on ice accompanying this snow storm in progress.? The ice will cut into the snow accumulations (as shown on the attached map), but it's not the trade off we want, with travel trouble just as bad with more ice and less snow.? This will be especially true in central VA, central WV, and central KY.? It's also worth noting a departing shot of snow for most of us making for a layer of snow/ice/snow.??

I can do a better job of alerting you of the next system coming in on Friday/Saturday and will take a more southern track (and brings potentially much higher snowfall totals for some of you!).? I'll provide a more timely update on this situation around mid-week.? Take care and be careful if you must travel!
