Like the young child in The Emperor’s New Clothes, who has had the courage to tell a CEO or owner that their favorite project “has no clothes?” I have worked with turnaround companies for a few years now. Inevitably, I have to tell a CEO or owner that what they believed to be true, is not. It may be that a big contract for a specific product is actually very unprofitable. Or maybe it’s a favorite “very good longtime customer” has been taking advantage of them for years. Worst of all, a key long-term employee may be involved in an embezzlement case.
