Empathy takes you far

Empathy takes you far

“Instead of worrying about what people say of you, why not spend time trying to accomplish something they will admire.”?– Dale Carnegie

The actions of an ex-colleague and friend deeply resonated with the lines above. While we professionals get busy meeting deadlines, working hard towards our goals, trying to make end meet : There is something within us which wants to live a life of purpose.

Call it the "Joy of Giving", "Corporate Social Responsibility" or "Non-Profit Organizations" , it all boils down to one thing :

Are we making this world a better place for others ?

Below is an excerpt from my conversation with Mouna who believes in a cause to help others .

Q: What is Kindness according to you?

Mouna : According to me, kindness is in the little things we do for each other that we share this world with. Any thought / action / word that we do to make someone’s day, tiny or huge by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, thinking of their emotions, treating with respect, showing that that you care about them in the things that we do in our day-to-day life.

It is a key towards peace and love that shifts our energy to a more positive state.?

How we treat and talk to ourselves becomes the foundation. So, kindness is not just about how we treat other people, it is also about the same intentions and behaviors to our own selves.

Q: What drives you for the humanitarian work that you do?

Mouna :I grew up seeing a lot of suffering / struggle around me, but the helplessness had an impact over me.

Sometimes we feel it’s only me, my family, and few people around us is all that matters. But the truth is we are all connected somehow.?

I got inspired while I see and hear stories of lot of kind people trying to do something for the society in some way and I wanted to be a helping hand to my extent.

I started taking small steps by volunteering to the NGOs to help the less fortunate and the voiceless souls. Volunteering can be one of the most transformative experiences. for our own selves as well.?

By serving others, we serve ourselves too to build our life as a human.

Q: What do you think would make the world a better place?

Mouna: We all have a duty to make this world a better place. There is so much we can do to improve our surroundings, communities, environment.

The question that we need ask ourselves is, what can I do? How can I create a good impact in our world today in my capacity? Look around and do the changes if we can.?

Every human being can do something a little something for others.

The most effective way to bring out a change is through our own example. One step at a time individually and collectively we can make the world little bit kinder and better for all of us.

So don't wait for a reason to make someone smile, to help someone in need . The world needs more of that.
