Emotionally Unraveling
Yvonne C. Freeman
I'm a Bible Christian. An author, poet and song writer posting poetry from my books inspired by the written word of God
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7
Stop - be still - take a moment to breathe. Take it one day at a time put one foot before the other. You can't walk without first standing up. You can't run unless you can walk. There is always something to be grateful for. When you woke up this morning that was your first blessing of the day. If your family, friends and relatives have not been infected or died from the coronavirus you are truly blessed today we'll not promised tomorrow. Unfortunately 1.3 million people are infected and over 82 thousand deaths and still counting. Are you emotionally unraveling while sheltering in place due to the coronavirus?
Frustration and loneliness feeling disconnected when you can't even visit your grandparents. Even living amongst loving family members you still feel isolation from your social circles. Your home has become a classroom, gym, salon and office. A new normal teaching the kids, jumping jacks in the living room, cutting and dying the gray in your hair. An emotional roller coaster you're holding on tight making the adjustments necessary to get through this pandemic.
Sheltered in place but you can't say that about everyone else. Those brave first responders on the front line everyday in the midst of this pandemic keeping us safe. ER Physicians, Nurses, policemen, firemen, bus and train drivers. Grocery workers, mailmen, pharmacists and the list goes on. Fortunate are those who can work from home with the means to buy food and pay their bills. Millions of people must visit food banks while waiting for their unemployment check. You are truly blessed if not in this situations.
We may all be in this together but not all impacted equally. Unemployment and death among minority groups are more effected than others. The coronavirus has exposed the cracks in our institution's social, economic and race disparities that define who are the most vulnerable.
Don't let your emotions paralyze you. Hope keeps you going, take this time to discover what really matters. Be kind to one another, this pandemic is a humbling experience. Accept that which you cannot control for the coronavirus is not going anywhere until there is a vaccine. Forever changed, what was may never be again nor should it be. This world of greed and corruption must end. Make this world a better place beginning with you one day at a time.
"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." - Psalm 51:10,12
