EMOTIONALLY INVEST IN YOURSELF TO LEAD

EMOTIONALLY INVEST IN YOURSELF TO LEAD

Someone needs to keep it together when the team fails or when bad feelings boil up beneath the surface, creating a toxic working environment. For team leaders, the ability to always be in tune with oneself and one's emotions and have high tactical awareness can be a valuable tool. Emotional intelligence is the act of acknowledging, interpreting, and adjusting to emotions, managing feelings of distress, and being conscious of how your actions and statements affect others.?

A leader with vital Emotional Intelligence can help build a progressive working atmosphere. EQ may be used to create & maintain team balance and diversity, encourage and inspire individuals, make important decisions, and enhance strategy.?

Nowadays, most of what people say in the industry is sugar-coated, deeply embedded, and polished. The conversations are fabricated to strike the actual meaning. True feeling, on the other hand, stands out in this dilemma. Only a genuine person expresses real emotion. We're captivated when we experience it, not only because it's rare but also because it's honest.?

Feelings are a fantastic collection of tools for leading a team. When placed in the right place and at the right time, true feelings bring out the best in a group. When the unit is motivated, they are more engaged with their task, which improves the team's overall production. The leader has a strong interest in the quality of his team's professional performance, but he also should contribute to his team's happiness.?

Of course, different motivation techniques will appeal to different people, but there is something known as “contagious motivation” - [equally contagious like Covid-19].? Groups bound by more extraordinary emotions become so thrilled when they observe their team members' passion that it becomes infectious. This motivational contagion effect is dependent on the leader's ability to express his personal feelings in a way that improves performance.

Making your team members aware of their importance is one method to keep them engaged. Valuing their presence and highlighting it by expressing it loud and clear will result in team loyalty to the other members. People like to feel appreciated, and they enjoy receiving praise and credit for a job well done, especially when it is done in front of their peers. The award may go a long way toward making them feel like they are part of the team and contributing to its success.

Now, expressing your sentiments necessitates deep ties with people, and it all rests on the foundations of effective communication. A wise leader's art is to express his opinions openly and honestly without offending others. This type of art is quite effective in motivating people. His team members will perceive him as incompetent if he keeps them in the dark about any concerns. Being a team supporter includes knowing when and how to express concerns, exchange information, and effectively listen. You don't want to insult people and derail the project. Emotions are essential motivators and mood lifters.?

When an emotionally charged incident occurs, such as being angry at a coworker, the emotionally rational response is to pause before replying. This allows everyone to relax and think more clearly about all of the elements involved in the dispute. In addition, a brief weekly meeting with personnel could help prevent problems from developing or clear up any misunderstandings. It's terrific because it fosters a sense of unity among the professionals.

Recognition is free!?It fosters an emotional bond between team members and the leader. It contributes to meeting individuals' basic requirements for esteem and belonging within a group. Expressing your honest thoughts and patting team members on the back for a job well done is one method to make them feel appreciated. A relatively new way is the on-spot bonus. It's an incentive to give your employees a prize to show your thanks for their hard work. It makes it easier for team members to recognize which behaviors the organization values and pushes them to work more and build on these values.

It is critical to be genuine and constructive in your expression. It enables you to respond appropriately and develop more profound, more meaningful relationships with friends, family, and loved ones. It also allows you to communicate successfully in a wide range of social circumstances, from dealing with an unhappy customer to managing a harsh staff.?

Frank and open sharing of your thoughts and feelings helps to develop connections based on trust and respect, and assertiveness lets you express sentiments, beliefs, and ideas in a constructive, non-destructive way, ultimately driving the team. It's a happy medium between passive and aggressive. As you practice finding the middle ground, you will discover concessions that result in a win-win situation. Of course, it takes courage to convey your true feelings rather than crying to yourself.

Positive energy must also be projected. There's no way you can walk up in front of your team and be a confident guiding force; if you're feeling harassed, frightened, or frustrated about a project.?

In short, you must emotionally invest in yourself to be able to lead.

One of the key differences between a boss and a leader is that a boss uses, drives employees and put blame for the breakdowns while a leader develops, coaches employees and fixes the breakdowns.
