? LIVE at the UN Tomorrow: A Historic Moment in Justice Reform! On Monday, September 16, at 9 AM ET, REFORM Alliance is not just attending the United Nations Human Rights Council—we’re rewriting the global narrative on social reintegration. For the first time ever, the world is coming together to establish a universal standard for supporting people returning home from prison and those under non-custodial measures. Join @JessicaJackson, REFORM’s CEO, and Erin Haney, our Chief Advocacy Officer, as they stand before the United Nations to advocate for the 11.5 million people currently incarcerated worldwide. With almost all of them set to return home, this historic moment aims to bridge the gap that leaves so many without the support and resources they need to succeed post-release. This 57th session of the Human Rights Council marks the dawn of a new era, led by REFORM Alliance in partnership with Costa Rica, INHR, Perseus Strategies, Penal Reforn International and a coalition of nations, advocating for a human rights-based approach to social reintegration. Until now, there have been no global standards guiding what happens after incarceration—a glaring omission we are determined to correct. This isn’t just a step forward in reform—it’s a defining moment in human rights history. We’re setting the stage for transformative change, ensuring that every individual has a fair shot at rebuilding their life after prison. Don’t miss this monumental event. ??? Friday Night on BBC UK Black: Critical Conversations with Dr Leona Vaughn, PhD and Cllr. Chantelle Lunt This Friday night, I had the privilege of being in conversation with two remarkable women, Dr Leona Vaughn and Labour Councillor Chantelle Lunt, delve into some of the most pressing issues facing our society today on BBC UK Black. They unpacked the complexities of the recent riots across the UK. A significant part of the conversation focused on the notion of a two-tier policing system, where disparities in law enforcement treatment have become increasingly apparent. Leona and Chantelle highlighted how these inequalities are not just isolated incidents but are deeply rooted in systemic issues that disproportionately affect marginalised communities. The discussion also shone a light on the invaluable contributions of migrants to the UK, countering harmful narratives that often dominate public discourse. Chantelle's work with the Merseyside BLM Alliance and Leona’s research papers have been instrumental in challenging these myths and advocating for a more just and equitable society. Lastly, they took on the important task of myth-busting—debunking some of the pervasive misconceptions about race, crime, and community. Their insights provided a clear reminder that understanding and addressing these issues is crucial for creating a more inclusive and fair society. If you missed the Friday night interview, I highly recommend catching up. Their perspectives are essential for anyone committed to social justice and equality. Below is just the second half of our conversation #SocialJustice #UKRiots #Southport #RacialEquality #MigrantContributions #MythBusting #CommunityVoices #BLM

Chief Change Maker - About Time for Justice ?? Lived Experience - Institutional Child Abuse & Incarceration ?? Advocate Law Student
Community engagement is crucial for us, especially when it comes to supporting people affected by the criminal justice system, whether currently incarcerated or having been through it. - Last week, our team had the privilege of attending an inter-agency type meeting hosted by the Transform Lives program, which focuses on helping incarcerated women and their children. The meeting was a powerful mix of service providers working in the criminal justice space, with lived experience having a real place at the table. - What made it special was the use of a real-world case scenario. Each participant brought their perspective and expertise, which made the discussion real. Hearing everyone’s take was invaluable, but the session flew by too quickly! - I’m excited to see this group continue to grow, and I believe the plan is to hold these sessions quarterly. If you’re interested in being part of something meaningful in the criminal justice sector, I highly recommend contacting the crew at Transform Lives. Collaboration is critical, primarily when so few providers, government bodies, or NGOs work in this space. - Let’s connect, share knowledge, and make a difference together.

A Super PAC dedicated to representing the American Descendants of Slavery is essential to ensure this community has the resources to advocate for their rights. The American Descendants of Slavery have faced generations of systemic racism and discrimination that have hindered their ability to achieve true equality and justice. In order to combat these injustices and advocate for their rights, it is crucial for this marginalized group to have a Super PAC dedicated to their cause. A Super PAC would provide the American Descendants of Slavery with the financial resources necessary to support political candidates who are committed to addressing issues such as police brutality, economic inequality, and educational disparities. With the backing of a Super PAC, this community would have a stronger voice in shaping policies and legislation that directly impact their lives. Furthermore, a Super PAC would allow the American Descendants of Slavery to mobilize and organize more effectively, amplifying their message and reaching a wider audience. By pooling their resources and working together, this community can increase their influence and visibility in the political sphere. #ChangePolicy
