Emo the Emotional Elf by Faye Farmer

Hi all, it has been a while since I wrote an article most of my book updates and work has been done through WordPress, I have been thinking a lot about this lately . I used to love the excitement of uploading different posts on the different sites I use each one slightly different to engage people with what I write. Something had to give though because of my work as a carer and a parent of kids with special needs, the reason for writing the book in the first place.

I have noticed a slight shift here on LinkedIn on shares and views of my last updated article, which was a whole year ago when I was partnership publishing with Melrose Books. If you have been viewing my posts, since that point or even followed the journey you will know that is no longer the case since they went into liquidation not long after the book was published in 2018.

I am persevering with publishing at the moment as a self-published author with my own publishing imprint booksELF Publishing, I am learning as quickly as I can all the techniques necessary to develop the skills needed to do that, when I was just an avid reader I never knew just how much work goes on behind the scenes, both in print version and eBook, or that I would now understand why there is a lot of movement and shifts to employees in this industry, or even how much of a challenging and complex set of skills you truly need.

Would I have still like or need a publisher or agent the truth of this is yes but right at this moment I have neither so I have to learn lots.

I am still using elves in my work and at home, the changes across all parts of our lives because of the book and our little Elf friend keeps us on the positive thinking side of things.

So as well as bring the book back out to public domain, I have also carried on with book signings and author talks. Built author pages on social media and wrote over a 100’000 words on my word press blog.

Most people in general have busy lives and don’t always get time too click links to other websites and that is ok, I understand how limited life is for some. I like writing now I find it’s the biggest self-help tool you can have a way for a person to just talk via writing without having feedback while you are doing it.

I think about when I was a teenager like my kids are now I used to write a diary I think my WordPress in a way is kind of like that, getting the good days and bad days out of your head so you can sleep peacefully a diary in my day was a big thing, now we have social media so really it is the same just our lives are more public now then a secret in a book. That is how the world has developed over the years.

My book went public again on 5th august 2019 and with this I wanted to learn what helps your books be more visible to physical shops, libraries, and online e-books I have set it up for standard industry wholesale discount and as returnable. To try and get it in as many places as possible.

Having the best of both worlds is a great thing to encourage not only kids to put down Tec and read but adults too. How many of you feel Tec has taken hold of your lives and that of your family,

How many have sat back and hoped your kids would come and snuggle and watch a movie or engaged with you while out and about?

How many of you have had a decline in eyesight, or been affected by the images you see online or even been on the receiving end of nasty behaviour that others can display by hind a keyboard? How much do you think it has had an impact on either your own or someone you know’s mental health?

So while the second edition is available in print version and at the moment while we sort a technical issue out with flex file to try and covert it to a reflowable file it is on Kobo available to down load.

UK Southern Book Show 2019 signing, at this event the children really got involved and used thier social skills. This was the first was the first event I gave an author talk at on the challenges of a first time author.

Second event this year was at a summer event at a specialist school Hill park upper school in Portslade. Fantastic school was a pleasure to donate a book to thier raffle and the proceeds from sale of key rings.

It was at this event I met some wonderful families, and got invited to another event which is coming up at the end of August 2019 just donated another book to this event. and book my own table at this event. The more I attend events and signings the more confidence I gain as an author the more it shows me that hard work pays off, having a don't give up attitude really helps. I am also human and have a lot of sad family issues at this present .

Please understand I am still learning, and that some of the issues have been out of my control.  If there is one thing I could add though it would be to go for the newest version as the old version is no longer available the very few minor edits that needed to be done to the new book have been done, before re-publishing.
