This is the story of a middle school that had two roof top HVAC units, each serving the comfort needs of seven to ten offices. The problem was that since each HVAC unit only had one thermostat, every office was a different temperature -- one office was too hot while another was so cold that space heaters were needed. This created a situation where no one was happy or comfortable. This scenario is all too common in office buildings, retail spaces, manufacturing plants, gymnasiums and warehouses as well.
EMME System solved the problem...first, duct work was expanded into rooms where no forced air system had previously existed, providing fresh air at the room level. This was completed for under $1000 per room - fully installed!
Then the two roof top units were twinned in order to expand the EMME Room-by-Room System, allowing the school to be divided into 24 separate zones/rooms.
- Before installation of the EMME System, the two roof top units were running 100% of the time.
- After the installation, only one roof top unit ran 80% of the time. The second unit kicked in only when it was needed.
