Emma Houghton: Proudly serving our customers and communities
The Sovini Groups mission of creating opportunities and changing lives shines through our people.
Emma Houghton has recently celebrated a promotion to Credit Controller for Sovini Trade Supplies Ltd , our independent builder’s merchant.
We recognise and celebrate her contribution and achievements towards our goal of creating a better future for our people, partners and communities that we serve.
Emma started at Sovini Trade Supplies as a Warehouse Operative in 2020, then later went on to join the sales team on key accounts.
“I have always worked in the building trade sector and have lots of experience working in customer facing roles.” Emma said.
“I worked at Eurocell for 8 years on the trade counter and as a Warehouse Supervisor. Before that I worked for Tool Station.”??????
Emma not only excels in the workplace but is always determined to push herself to achieve more. “When I was on maternity leave, I went back to achieve the GCSE’s levels I didn’t get at school.”
After joining the sales team at Sovini Trade Supplies, her team quickly realised that Emma had an ability to create unexpected and positive relationships with customers regarding sensitive subjects. She naturally fell into her new role and has been thriving ever since.
Emma enjoys coming into work and praises her team for their support “The team I work with are amazing. They’re more like friends than work colleagues and have supported me every step of the way.”

Emma is also heavily involved with the social value aims of The Group. She works with local charities to see if they need any materials for community projects before they are disposed.
“We gave a local charity wood that was going in the bin, and they used it to make a water fountain. The fountain was going to water fruit and veg that would be donated to the food bank, for people in the local area. It’s fantastic seeing the direct positive impact we have as a business.”
She also abseiled down Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral to raise money for the White Chapel Centre, a local homeless charity. “I am not an emotional person at all, but I like stuff like that. It has a knock-on effect.”
So, what’s next for Emma?
Emma is currently studying for her AAT Level 2, so she can continue to expand her knowledge on the accounts receivable and payable side of Sovini Trade Supplies.
“It will be beneficial for me to gain this qualification as I didn’t have any accounts experience - I just picked it up as I went along.”
We wish Emma the best of luck in this new chapter and are excited to see what she does next.
