The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Festival- CEN 120km for private stables saw an impressive 224 starters from 90 stables, representing riders from over 30 countries.
However, it was our Emirati riders who stole the show today, with the first eight-places all going to local riders.
Ahmad Saleh Alshehi from Al Kamada Stables took first place, with Ghaith A. Saqer from S.S. Stables second and Abdulla Ali Alamri from Zabeel Stables in third.
Ghaith, riding the French-bred grey gelding, Hattan was first home from loop one, yet by the second loop, Ahmad had taken the lead and remained in pole position for the remainder of the race, with Ghaith maintaining his second place.
Ahmed Saleh Alshehi rode to victory on the Uruguay-bred mare Jubulani Endurance with an average speed throughout the race of 27.68 kmph and average recovery time of 7.46.
The outing was only the second of the season for nine-year-old Jabulani Endurance, who retired from last month’s Marmoom Endurance Cup CEN 120km at gate-two.
In fourth place with an average speed of 26.77kmph was Saeed Al Subousi from Al Azem Stable riding Karabil Rammin. Ahmed S. Al Subose (S. S. Stable) was fifth with horse Sayaf and an average speed of 26.69, and in sixth place was Ibrahim Al Hammadi from Mas Endurance Stables on Aglae De Kerdanet.
