??The state-owned flagship Dubai carrier Emirates announced at the opening of the Dubai Air Show that it had placed an XXL order with the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing. Already the world’s biggest operator of wide-body passenger aircraft, Emirates has committed to order 95 long-haul aircraft, worth a total of 52 billion dollars.
??The order covers 55 Boeing 777-9s, 35 B777-8s and 5 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Emirates' order book now stands at 295 aircraft, including 205 Boeing 777s. Emirates' strategy is to expand its fleet to around 350 aircraft by 2030, connecting Dubai to more than 400 destinations.
??The 777 remains the flagship of the Emirates fleet, capable of missions lasting up to 18 hours, enabling the airline to connect Dubai non-stop to cities on six continents. For example, Emirates operated a direct service between Dubai and Dallas in a B777-200 this summer, covering a distance of around 8,040 Nm and a flight time of 15 hours and 10 minutes!
