Emilokan: My Reflections on the Year 2023

The year 2023 presented a series of formidable challenges. From January to March, we navigated through the toughest months of a nine-month-long campaign, an intense period that tested our resilience. Thanks to Octave Analytics Limited (past and present) team and Obianuju Uyanneh, ACI for the roles they played during these challenging times. They say that tough people outlast tough times, and this sentiment resonated as I transitioned from being a candidate in the Lagos Central Senatorial district to the emotional adjustments necessary for returning to normal life after an electoral episode. It was God's Sustaining Grace that sustained me.

In retrospect, the lessons learned from the electioneering and campaign activities far surpass any knowledge acquired in a traditional classroom setting. It became the essential ingredient for success that my life required at that critical juncture. I will forever be grateful for the experiences of 2023.

Moving forward to April through June, my partners provided unwavering support and solace post-election. The transition felt seamless, almost as if nothing had transpired. By the time the new government was inaugurated on May 29th, I had rebounded, fully prepared for the second half of the year.

The latter part of 2023 is indescribable, marking the most fulfilling second half I have experienced to date. Every transaction that had been put on hold pending the election outcome rushed back, a testament to divine intervention. No be God? Na God o!

Anticipating the future, I had to get back into my data and AI projects not minding President Tinubu's interventions. Leading the way in AI evangelism, I focus on advocating best practices for AI adoption in Nigerian businesses - Telecoms, Banking, Insurance, Security, and Government. The fact is that data, AI, and technology can give businesses significant leverage in this crunching economy and this is my message to the world. Gradually, we are setting the pace for individuals and organizations seeking to leverage AI tools for enhanced productivity, and fostering the growth of Nigerian data and AI communities.

As we step into 2024, let us continue the journey we initiated. There are no limitations that can hinder our progress.
