Hot Tips for Emerging Evaluation Leaders

· Find a Mentor – role models, mentors, coaches, and sponsors are integral to the professional development of novice evaluators. Anyone can serve as a mentor as long as they are willing to invest in supporting emerging evaluators.
· Join a Network – When emerging evaluators enter leadership pathways accidentally, building social capital offers a valuable support system for career success. There are additional support networks and training opportunities available through the evaluation Networks all over the world that can add value to their professional development.
· Volunteer – Volunteering to chair a session at an evaluation conference or workshop, serving on a learning network committee, or running for board leadership can help expand your evaluator network while developing your leadership skills.
· Seek Additional Training – There are many useful opportunities for emerging evaluators to acquire formal/experiential training. Emerging evaluators must be brave to pursue such opportunities.
