Emerging Africa Capacity Building Hosts Premier 2020 Women's Leadership Webinar

The Emerging Africa Capital Group (Emerging Africa), a leading Investment Banking franchise recently featured prominent African and International female business leaders at one of the best attended Women’s leadership webinars so far in 2020 themed “Women Who Lead”, a virtual event which registered 4000 participants from 24 countries across the globe. Held  on 10th September, 2020 the event was hosted in honor of the 55th birthday of its Group Chief Executive Officer and one of Africa’s leading Capital Markets Player and gender equality champion. 

The event which was also the maiden outing of the group’s new Division, Emerging Africa Capacity Building, was designed to educate women leaders, CEOs, professionals and entrepreneurs on how to successfully maneuver their careers in a volatile and male dominated world. Speakers at the event included Chief Dr. Mrs. Nike Akande OON, CON, Group Chairman Emerging Africa Group and Nigeria’s first female Minister of Industry, Ms. Arunma Oteh OON, Academic Scholar, Oxford University & former Treasurer of the World Bank, Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Ms Lamia Merzouki Deputy Head of the Casblanca Finance City and Mrs Toyin Sanni, the Celebrant. 

Discussions at the event were moderated by Dionne Searcey, Pulitzer Prize Award Winning New York Times Reporter and Author.

Speaking at the event, Chief Dr. Mrs. Nike Akande OON, CON shared important tips for success, stating that “the qualities of a great leader are hard work, honesty, transparency, intellectual and professional rigor and a winning mindset”.

Mrs. Ibukun Awosika. Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, shared constructive advice for women including personal development, managing key relationships as well as balancing the demands of work and family.  

Oxford Scholar and former VP and Treasurer  at the World Bank, Ms. Arunma Oteh, OON shared her 10 Success Principles, Values, Investing in oneself, excellence, courage and risk taking. 

Lamia Marzouki reminded participants that “The most powerful tool you have in your journey is your self awareness which would give you more confidence, courage and audacity”.

The celebrant and Group CEO, Mrs. Toyin F. Sanni shared her key priorities which are  God, People, Purpose, Timing and Meaning and advised leaders on the importance of empathy and building trust.

Special Guests who delivered Goodwill messages at the event were Her Excellency, Engr Mrs Naimot Salako-Oyedele, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Dr. Awele Elumelu, Chairman, Avon Healthcare and Pastor Mrs. Helen Oyitso of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
