You know EMDR works.
You took the EMDR training and have learned the protocol. You know that there are many different ways to help clients heal, and EMDR has been working, for the most part. However, you sometimes find yourself stuck in session. You signed up for the training because you wanted to expand your skills in trauma healing; and now, you want to master EMDR for your clients’ benefit and to grow as a clinician.
Therapy isn’t something new to you. You’ve done your own healing work, and know the power of therapy. At the end of your work day, you want to lean back on your sofa, knowing you have done your best work and made an impact in the lives of your clients.
Becoming a good EMDR clinician takes a lot more than just taking level 1 and level 2 training.
You sit with clients who have complex trauma, attachment issues, neglect, deeply rooted negative beliefs and unhealthy behaviors, grief, chronic pain and more complex issues that do not simply get resolved in a few sessions.
What you really need is a solid trauma framework, and knowing how and when to use EMDR.
As an EMDRIA certified therapist and Consultant in Training, I get it. I've been there. As a newly trained EMDR clinician, I had some great hopes for how to help clients heal from their flashbacks, their nightmares, to shake their negative beliefs and to reduce the chronic anxiety and sadness.
I soon realized that though some of the EMDR marketing promotes that clients can feel short term relief, the basic training often doesn't speak of the deeper more complex pains that some of our clients hold.
Through one on one consultation, I was able to improve outcomes with clients through properly setting up therapy, using appropriate assessments, setting EMDR Targets and knowing how and when to use interweaves.
EMDR + Trauma Healing
Single Incident Trauma Vs Complex Trauma
Single incident trauma responds quickly to anywhere from 2-6 EMDR sessions. However, most of your clients have experienced hopelessness, loss, abandonment, violation or abuse, and a short "quick fix" EMDR is not the answer. Research proves that complex PTSD requires a more comprehensive plan that requires lengthier stabilization and skills before processing.
EMDR is an intervention that requires finesse and fine-tuned skill when treating complex PTSD.
You want to learn how to administer appropriate assessments to inform your target selection, utilize research based skills to be certain you are pacing the work properly, and check for attachment injuries, dissociation and unidentified defenses that stall effective processing.
You know that it’s not about a quick fix, you want to invest the time and energy it takes to truly grow clinically and personally as an EMDR Therapist.
What you will get out of EMDR consultation with me:
I help trained EMDR professionals who want to go beyond the basics and into application build their confidence and skills as an EMDR therapist who specializes in trauma.
Through our work together you will walk into your next EMDR sessions knowing that you have a clear focus on what you will be targeting, be able to speak confidently about the EMDR process and to set realistic treatment goals for better outcomes with clients. You’ll also know how to work through EMDR blocks so you can process looping moments with more ease and skill.

About your Consultant, Esther Goldstein
Hi, I’m Esther Goldstein, and I’m super passionate about helping clinicians harness their trauma informed skills.
I want you to not only help clients heal, but for you to also have a deep knowing that your skills are adequate to help the client sitting across you. In my many years of advanced training and in my continued quest for understanding how trauma healing works, I’ve acquired a thorough, robust skillset that has helped me help many clients heal.
My practice is devoted to providing quality care to clients in need, and it’s been exciting to be able to provide just that. However, we are just one practice, and my hope is that each EMDR clinician across the world gets to build their own incredible skillset so that there are more clinicians I can confidently refer to when clients are seeking trauma work.
The good news is that in working together, I won’t just teach you EMDR skills, but I’ll also share my knowledge about other trainings I’ve done in DBT, Internal Family Systems, The Structural Dissociation Model, Expressive Arts and Somatic Interventions and Attachment Based Sensorimotor Psychotherapy skills to help you maximize your clients’ treatment goals, all while using the EMDR framework.
