Investigation Launched into Belgrade Runway Overrun

Serbia's Traffic Accident Research Center announced on February 22, 2024, the initiation of an investigation into an accident involving a Marathon Embraer ERJ-195, operated by Air Serbia, which overran the runway at Belgrade on February 18, 2024. Miscommunication between the flight crew and air traffic control led to the aircraft lining up at the incorrect runway intersection, with the crew opting to take off from a shorter runway length than planned. The aircraft subsequently struck the ILS monitoring antenna, causing substantial damage and a fuel leak, though it returned safely without injuries. The investigation focuses on the flight crew's miscalculation of take-off parameters and the decision to proceed despite the reduced runway length.
