Embracing Your Permission To Rest & Find Peace

Ever experienced that stalking feeling of guilt when you can’t meet life’s demanding expectations? We're plagued by society's messages to "keep going", push on through, don’t be a loser, even when every fibre of your being screams "enough!"

We're almost wired to resist resting, even when we're hanging by a thread.

While the world around us sets an array of standards and benchmarks, there's a relentless commentator within us that often turns out to be our harshest critic.

This inner voice is a collection of societal norms, past experiences, and our personal fears.

When external pressures weigh us down with responsibilities and expectations, the internal one ensures we're doubly hard on ourselves!!!

It’s both intriguing and concerning how we humans tend to function or more precisely stated create dysfunction.

Society cleverly conducts the demands and expectations in our lives, constantly setting the direction and pace at which we play along.

It skillfully and slyfully dictates that we constantly outdo ourselves, no matter the cost.

Our society has mastered the art of instilling the fear of missing out or being left behind. So, we tend to equate rest with laziness, self-care with self-indulgence, and boundaries with weakness.

Pushing ourselves too hard without taking enough time for restorative rest can seriously undermine both our physical and mental health.

When we ignore the need for rest, we risk falling into burnout, which leaves us feeling exhausted, both emotionally and physically, all the time. This chronic stress can lead to serious issues like insomnia, a weakened immune system, heightened anxiety, and deeper bouts of depression.

Overstretching ourselves without adequate downtime can stop our bodies from repairing themselves and can make existing health issues worse. This not only impacts our overall productivity but can also affect our quality of life.

It's clear that making time for regular rest isn't indulgence—it's crucial for maintaining our mental well-being and keeping our bodies strong and healthy.

  1. Dedicate regular moments to self-care, relax, find peace, heal and recharge.
  2. Set & maintain boundaries. Learn the art of saying "no." and establishing clear limitations.
  3. Seek safe havens through connecting with those you trust and find your tribe of understanding.
  4. Consume mindfully by filtering and limiting your media intake.
  5. Reach out for safe and professional guidance and support.
  6. Engage in mindfulness practices, ground yourself in the present.
  7. Empower and arm yourself through education and knowledge.
  8. Cherish small triumphs, celebrate every step and win.
  9. Drown the inner critic.
  10. Lean on shared experiences.

It’s in the stillness and quiet, we often find our most profound strengths and insights.

Give yourself permission to rest, to let go, and to simply be. Because you're worth every bit of love and care.
