Hello Creative Uprisers!
As we step into July, it's a great time to reflect on our creative and professional journeys and the path ahead. The month offers us a fresh opportunity to evaluate our growth and set new intentions. Here's some food for thought as we embrace the summer's creative energy:
We are all creative. The true question is: Are we better creating today than we were yesterday? And are we doing everything we can to be the best we can be tomorrow? This is an ongoing, iterative process throughout our lives. Often, we forget that we hold the reins to our own lives and can make different choices. If something in our lives—be it our career, relationships, or routines—isn't bringing us joy, we have the power to change it.
If you want to live in a creative way that enhances every aspect of your life—whether it's being a better family member or starting a new business—it's all interconnected. I don't claim to know everything about creativity, coaching or any specific field; it's more about viewing the world through a lens of continuous improvement and striving to make it the best it can be. We are all creators, and every idea holds value.
From the beginning, I never thought any of the things I’m doing were possible. I pursued my passions out of love, thinking they would be hobbies while my job would support them. Remarkably, the stars aligned, and my passions became my work. Sometimes, despite creating something great, it may not connect with the world due to timing or other factors beyond our control. We simply do our best and hope for the best.
Living Artfully vs. Sleepwalking: We can choose to live artfully, engaging with each moment and making each choice count. Alternatively, we can drift through our days, merely repeating yesterday. The choice to live deliberately impacts our ability to create beautiful things. It's essential to prioritize authenticity over external expectations.
Audience Comes Last: While our audience is important, the best work often comes from focusing on our creative process first. Making something solely for others can dilute its essence. If we evolve as artists, our audience must evolve with us, or we risk stagnation. Sometimes, staying true to ourselves means alienating some of our audience, but it also opens the door to new possibilities.
Breaking Rules to Innovate: Creativity often flourishes when we break away from established norms. Rules serve to establish average behavior, but average is not what we aspire to in art. By experimenting and trying new methods, even if it means making mistakes, we grow and discover new facets of our creativity. Success and failure both teach us valuable lessons.
Energy vs. Creativity: While our physical energy may wane, our creative spirit is boundless. Engaging in various creative practices enriches them all. Sometimes, removing distractions can help everything fall into place. Other times, persistence leads to unexpected breakthroughs.
The Power of Yet: Replace "I can't do it" with "I haven't done it yet." This mindset shift opens doors to endless possibilities. Practice is key. Embrace writing, recording, or any form of creation as a hobby, and eventually, you'll find work worth sharing. The journey itself is where we uncover our true potential.
We all live in the same world, but as creatives, our unique perspectives allow us to see things differently. This month, let’s push boundaries, embrace collaboration, and stay open to the universe’s cues. You might overhear a conversation that sparks a new idea or encounter a phrase that perfectly fits a joke you’ve been working on. These moments are signs from the universe, guiding us on our creative journey.
Let's embrace July with a renewed commitment to our art, our projects, our business. Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination. Keep experimenting, stay true to yourself, and never stop creating.
Warm regards,
Ana x
