Embracing the World of Medical Devices: My Journey of Passion and Innovation.

??????

Today, I want to share something that has fueled my career journey in the diagnostic industry. While some people find their hearts racing at the sight of the latest fashion trends or the newest car models, my world revolves around the exhilarating domain of medical devices, especially diagnostic tools. My journey is not just a career path; it's a story of passion, learning, and love for an industry that is pivotal in healthcare delivery.

Falling in Love with the Mechanics of Healing

My fascination began during my university days, with a course that forever changed my perspective: It was called Biomedical Instrumentation. This wasn't just a subject; it was a gateway to understanding how intricate biochemical reactions are harnessed within the confines of sophisticated devices. The transformation from manual diagnostics to automation was mesmerizing. Imagine running a random blood glucose test using a basic colorimeter and then comparing it to the precision of a centralized laboratory device. The principle remains the same, but the efficiency and accuracy are worlds apart.

This course was my first love, a bridge connecting the manual labor of diagnostics to the elegance of automation. Just like transitioning from manually staining tissues in histology to using an automated Stainer, the steps are similar, but one is undoubtedly more efficient.

A Career Fueled by Passion

This love didn't just stay within the academic realm. It propelled me into a career where I thrived in a fully automated lab, troubleshooting like a pro. My skills didn't go unnoticed. Someone noticed me and made recommendations. Soon, I transitioned into an Application Specialist role for a major diagnostic distributor. Here, I helped scientists and end-users understand, appreciate, and optimize their devices.

The journey didn't stop there. My manager noticed I had great relationship building and customer relations skills and I had a strategic way of thinking about our product positioning in the market and urged me to transition to sales, without hesitation, I moved into accounts management and sales consulting, assisting healthcare practitioners with their diagnostic needs and recommending top-notch devices. This phase was incredibly fulfilling, as I could see the direct impact of my work in healthcare delivery.

Today: A Bridge to Africa’s Diagnostic Needs

Fast forward to the present, my role has evolved into guiding diagnostic manufacturers in navigating the intricate African market. Understanding the regulatory pathways and market nuances is crucial for introducing medical devices effectively. I also work closely with distributors to increase their visibility and market penetration.

The Heart of the Matter

Why am I sharing this story? It's to illustrate that passion can be a powerful career driver. For me, it's not just about the financial rewards; it's about being in an industry that I genuinely love. If my heart finds a new passion tomorrow, be it in automobiles or any other field, I would follow it without hesitation.

Conclusion: Follow Your Passion

To those wondering about their career paths, take a leaf from my book: follow what you love. Passion is a compass that can lead you to fulfilling and unexpected destinations. My love for medical devices wasn't just a fleeting interest; it was the fuel that drove my career decisions and successes.

And to you, reading this, what drives your passion?

Like you I love medical diagnosis and loved to sell. After Uni didn’t know how to harness both. Working on the bench full time as a medical laboratory scientist wasn’t as interesting to me after Internship. Fast forward to now I work as a medical equipment sales executive, and account manager. This has been fulfilling. Advising health professionals latest technology and its benefits to their practice listening to their issues and frustration and proferring a solution has been rewarding. I hope to start a podcast to narrate my journey and others like me. You are an inspiration to me. Keep doing the good work u never know who is being motivated by your work and post. Someone like me.
