Embracing the Virtual Network

Are we embracing the bigger picture of building relations with the Virtual network that is available?

Over the past 7 weeks it has certainly been a discovering time in the Networking scene.

We have all had to embrace the virtual technology & keep the conversation flowing for business through Zoom, Teams, and many other platforms.

Taking a moment to reflect to the early start of attending many events across Scotland & further afield, there were many connections I had noticed were selling to the room and becoming hunters, instead of focusing on becoming Farmers.

So with many more connections now embracing the Virtual Network opportunities that we have available, it has encouraged more to take a better look at time management and most importantly the quality of time we have to develop business relations within all sectors & industries.

I believe that the environment of online networking has developed more connections to be more focused & targeted on listening to the content. The phrase “Don’t judge a book by its cover” could never be more adept, as people are focusing on the content, rather than their perception of someone that they have interacted with at a meeting / event.

Top 3 Steps – To a Virtual Meeting / Event

1.     Clear Objectives

Setting out clear objectives for each meeting and event that you will be attending, is important as it will make you more focused in delivering your message to the audience or connections.

2.     Clear Agenda

A defined & clear agenda for the meeting will assist with time management & structure for the individual meeting or event that you are conducting.

This will assist with opening the meeting and start conversations to discover opportunities.

3.     Limit Surroundings (Distractions)

Making sure the environment is set and ready to go, activating your mute button when required is a must, to limit the background noises such as Deliveries, Family Members and Pets (where you can).

This quote could not be more true - "It’s less about the product or service that we provide, its more about the people we meet on the business journey we are taking"

Virtual networking is opening new Geographical areas in business, with further opportunities in building stronger business relations and foundations to grow your Net worth.

So, do not sell to the person or the room that you are virtually meeting, make sure that you get to know the person/s and build a long-term business relationship.
