This term, I embarked on a journey that was both unfamiliar and exhilarating. For the first time in my life, I joined a choir and participated in a concert, stepping far out of my comfort zone. This experience was more than just about music; it was a testament to overcoming personal challenges and embracing new opportunities.
?? Discovering My Voice Despite not having a musical background and missing out on musical opportunities as a child, I've always held a deep appreciation for music. Watching my son enjoy a rich musical upbringing, I felt a growing desire to be part of this world. However, the barriers seemed insurmountable – a lack of confidence, my undiagnosed Neurodiversity, and a deep-seated introversion.
?? A Bold Step Forward Moving regions in 2018 presented a fresh start. Later joining a local choir, I began to find my footing, only for the pandemic to halt our sessions. However, upon returning to my hometown of Bath this year, I found courage I didn't know I had. I joined a community choir where no auditions were required, a setting that promised fun and inclusivity.
?? A Moment of Self-Advocacy The journey wasn't without its trials. Adapting to a new choir environment was overwhelming, but a pivotal moment came when I openly communicated my needs as an autistic individual. This act of bravery opened doors to understanding and support from the choir director and fellow members, marking a significant turning point in my journey.

?? A Celebration of Growth and Community This experience has been about more than just music. It’s a celebration of personal growth, community, and the power of embracing one's unique journey. It’s a story of how stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected joys and a deeper sense of belonging.
