In the ever-evolving workplace, merging tech in HR is no longer distant rather it has become crucial. However, all HR leaders must take cognizance of the fact that technology isn’t a replacement for human touch. It is after all the human element and efforts that create a positive employee experience on which every organization thrives.

And as I see rapid advancements seeping deep into HR practices, I ponder how to strike the right balance between humans and technology. Today, through this article, I will try to decode why our sector (HR) needs to embrace this necessary shift to technology and how we can balance it well with human connection.

HR technologies are already shaping up how we manage talent and track performance management. There are data analytics and AI tools that provide valuable insights and make it easier for us to improve efficiency and streamline processes. Furthermore, technology is constantly helping us boost employee engagement. Certain tools and apps facilitate a feedback-rich culture with real-time communication. These aid CHROs decoding areas of improvement and understanding employee emotions and situations.

While all of these tech advancements come with several benefits, they carry certain limitations and challenges. The biggest of all is that technology can create a wide gap between CHROs, CEOs, and other employees. And, this is exactly where the human connection surpasses technology and becomes invaluable!

I strongly believe that the human element in an HR role is imperative for the following:

? Active listening and empathy: Technology can never replicate the mutual link and feeling of human interaction, one-on-one conversations, informal chats, and team meetings.

? Personalization: Several apps can provide insights into the latest career paths and opportunities. They will fail to guide you with your aspirations and ambitions. It is only possible with personalized learning, coaching, mentorship, and meaningful conversations.

? Celebrating milestones: With my experience of over two decades, I bet that automated systems and messages cannot match the simple gestures or personalized greetings that foster a sense of appreciation, togetherness, and belonging.

?Well, then how do we find the balance? The challenge for all CHROs today is to leverage both technologies while maintaining the invaluable human touch. Here are my quick tips to achieve the same:

? Train your HR team: Invest in training your HR team to make them learn the technicalities and use interpersonal skills while connecting with employees. The dual approach will enhance your HR strategies without replacing the warmth of humans!

? Allow open communication: Use technology to arrange and carry out discussions but also encourage open dialogue among all levels in your organization. Do not cut down face-to-face interactions but make sure to keep up with feedback sessions both formal and informal gatherings.

? Be cautious while using data: Data analytics can highlight all the necessary metrics like employee performance, satisfaction, and engagement but your responsibility is to view it with a human lens. Try to look beyond numbers and statistics. Make informed policies after careful study.

Summing up, I see that HR leaders and CHROS are standing at the crossroads of human touch and technology. While we cannot ignore the perks of technology we should not lose the human warmth, emotion, and connection in HR practices.
