What is meant by legacy system?
A legacy system refers to any aging computer system, hardware, or software that remains in active use. This encompasses a wide range of components such as computer hardware, software applications, file formats, and programming languages. It's worth noting that not all legacy systems are obsolete technologies.
Earlier this week, we had a comprehensive round table discussion about legacy systems.
We explored the challenges and opportunities they present in the rapidly evolving technological landscape of today. The focus was on how these "outdated" computing software and hardware systems can be secure, while still fulfilling their initial purpose, and not hinder growth and innovation in a dynamic business environment.
Thank you to those who made this discussion possible, Jack Byrne , Matt Wood and Barry Daniels for presenting, Scott Sumption , Lucy Drinkwater , Matthew Johnson , Liam Atkins , and Chip Thornalley for sparking thought-provoking discussions and generating innovative ideas.
