Embracing the Relentless Pursuit of Excellence

Embracing the Relentless Pursuit of Excellence

Success is unique and no two journeys are exactly alike. I believe that each of us defines success in our own terms. For some, it means fulfilling basic needs and ensuring the well-being of themselves and their loved ones. For others, success manifests as the exhilarating moment of throwing their graduation cap in the air, be it from high school, college, or post-graduate programs. And hey, have you heard the rumors about the overachievers always ending up at the 40 acres in Austin? But no pressure, right? \m/

As you clearly know by now, I am a strong advocate of the relentless pursuit of excellence, and I proudly express it with an abundance of enthusiasm each and every day. My crazy habits, which never fail to amuse my family, kids, dogs, and coworkers, are evident in the meticulous way I arrange my clothes the night before. It's like I'm creating an Amazon exclusive version of adult Garanimals — maybe Susan will see the genius in it!

In an effort to save time, I shave my head the night before, preparing for a seamless morning dash. The next day, I hit the snooze one time and then I step into the shower, put my clothes on, tie my tie with incredible precision, and pass by the kitchen to grab my BELDON Yeti (because ordinary tumblers just won't cut it). And guess what? I'm out the door in less than 15 minutes, fully prepared to change the world. Yes, you read that right - less than 15 minutes. Poor Susan, her curling iron doesn’t heat up in 15 minutes ??

Why does this matter so much to me? It's simple: I hate wasting time. It drives me absolutely nuts. By planning ahead, I maximize my waking hours. I have precisely 23 hours and 45 minutes to spend quality time with my loved ones, create special memories with friends, rest, and devote myself to the relentless pursuit of excellence.

As many of you are aware, every single day without fail, I engage in the practice of self-evaluation. I take a moment to look back at the previous day, evaluating what I did right, what I did wrong, and what I’m going to do better today. After all, as much as I hate to admit it - we're only human, right? This daily look back serves as my secret weapon for daily continuous improvement. It allows me to raise the bar higher each day, striving to surpass my previous achievements and make progress. Plus, I pick up where I left off on the day before, using that as my starting point for that next day. I refuse to return to square one. Trust me, this practice is easier than you think and will sharpen your focus. Why not give it a shot - it will make you more successful in life.?

Recently, I had the honor of attending Dylan's graduation from UT, where I had the privilege of hearing Kelly Steckelberg, the CFO of Zoom, deliver a remarkable speech. During her Commencement Speech, she dropped an great quote that I had never heard and quite possibly the GOAT quote of all time: "Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better." Wow! My mind was officially blown and I scoured the internet for the exact quote.?

So, how do you define success in your own life? And more importantly, what steps are you taking to shake things up and initiate change? Success isn't packaged neatly in a brown smiley Amazon box with a guaranteed return at Whole Foods. Nope, it’s an ever-evolving journey which aligns with our personal growth and learning. I believe that it's essential to reflect on our own individual aspirations, discover that personal inner drive, and relentlessly push ourselves beyond our own comfort zones.

I also believe that success isn't just a destination; it's an exhilarating ride on a roller coaster at your favorite amusement park fueled by the un-relentless pursuit of excellence. Anyone want to go to Fiesta Six Flags or Sea World with me????

Let's all embrace this pursuit, focus on our goals daily, and seize each day as an opportunity for growth

Together we can make a difference, one day at a time, one person at a time.?

Let’s go change the world together.?

Success not built over night. I can bet money, it took time and dedication. Strong will when things didn’t go as Olán. Tenacity each day to get up and keep going. Great insight and thanks for sharing.
