Embracing the Promise of the 2024 School Year

Embracing the dawn of the 2024 school year at Kilbreda College, Mentone fills me with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride. As a proud member of this exceptional school community, our celebration carries a dual significance – commemorating our 120th anniversary and honouring the enduring legacy of our Brigidine traditions, envisioned by the remarkable Brigidine Sisters.

Today, we welcomed 174 bright-eyed Year 7 students and their families into our Kilbreda family.? This was a joyous occasion, laying the foundation for a year filled with growth, discovery, and meaningful connections. The energy that reverberated through our hallways and classrooms was nothing short of exhilarating, echoing the anticipation and hope that accompany new beginnings.? These moments reaffirm the essence of our educational mission – to nurture young minds, inspire hearts, and empower each student to discover her purpose.

The unwavering dedication of our staff as we embarked on this new adventure was deeply moving.? Their commitment to building a community of strength and kindliness and their celebration of the unique gifts and talents of our 938 students, serve as an inspiration.? I am profoundly grateful to work alongside outstanding educators who embody the spirit of our visionary and courageous founders, the Brigidine Sisters, in every interaction.

One of the highlights of the day was gathering as a whole school community during lunchtime to pray for peace and solidarity. In a poignant display of unity, we formed Brigid's cross – a powerful reminder of the strength that lies in our collective spirit. This underscores the essence of our Brigidine traditions, fostering a spirit of compassion, empathy, and solidarity that transcends boundaries and unites us as one family.

Reflecting on the privilege of belonging to this remarkable school community, I am filled with gratitude for our outstanding parent community, whose steadfast support and partnership are instrumental in nurturing a thriving learning environment where every student can flourish.
