Embracing the pressure in a memorable week!
It’s reasonable to say that we know a fair bit about pressure…
…But this last week has been a whole new definition of the word, as months of planning and preparation, website rewrites, video production and so much more culminated in the big reveal of our latest TPMS handheld solution on Tuesday – the I-sensor Pro?.
It was something of a first for us, as we launched the product online via Teams, in a manner that we could never have dreamt of a matter of months ago. But as we all know, the world has changed immeasurably since then and web meetings very much represent some of the ‘new normal.’
Initially, I thought that the unveiling of such a comprehensive piece of technology in this way would have hamstrung us, as none of our customers could get a feel for the product in the flesh.
But with 47 attendees on the sessions – including business directors, regional directors, area managers, training specialists, marketers and journalists – it really couldn’t have gone much smoother, give or take the odd technical glitch!
The I-sensor Pro? features Wi-Fi connectivity, wireless Bluetooth and an integrated auto-focus camera, allowing for instant, personalised tyre pressure reporting and so much more.
We were able to bring these features to life through our presentation, whilst fielding a number of ad-hoc questions during the slides and also via the chat facility. In fact, I felt a bit like the host of a daytime TV programme when reading out the many questions – before having to answer everything live!
Overall, the reveal was a huge success precisely because it was done remotely and not in person. Had we have been able to opt for the latter, then there’s no way we would have been able to reach out to so many.
The pressure came with one or two gremlins that were hiding in the system. For reasons we still find hard to fathom, the system time on the invite had switched from 10.30am to 9.30am, meaning that a number of attendees were an hour early! This naturally caused more than a mild degree of panic but fortunately we had thought through some of the potential gremlins in advance.
We worked through it, kept calm (just) and as it transpired, it probably worked out for the best. We even had a baby watching on from the lap of one of our guests!
While this was a light hearted moment and a sight to raise a lot of smiles (and ‘ahhs!’), it underlines a pertinent point; which is how good it was to be able to see people’s expressions when doing an online meeting.
To be able to see people nodding, making notes and generally warming to what we were presenting was really uplifting to see and certainly took the edge off my rarely felt nerves.
If this is the new normal, then it is an area of normality that we can certainly get used to – ideally without a little bit of extra pressure beforehand!
Planning is already well underway for future sessions.
Thanks so much to everyone who managed to attend and interact so actively with us. You made it a real pleasure.
Last but not least, a big shout out to my co hosts at Autogem, we have had the pressure on for quite some time my dear comrades and all the appreciation I have received from the sessions is testimony to your hard work. #loveteamautogem #newnormal
