Embracing the Power of Becoming Your Future Self

Embracing the Power of Becoming Your Future Self

In today’s edition of the Prosper Inspirational Newsletter, I want to share a transformative journey I’ve been on after reading "Be Your Future Self Now" by Dr. Benjamin Hardy. The insights gained have not only shifted my perspective but have ushered in profound changes in my life. Many of us, myself included, often shape our futures based on our present circumstances.

The hustle and bustle of everyday life can consume us, leaving little room for intentional growth. New Year's resolutions may come and go, yet our goals remain elusive, carried over year after year.

Recognizing my tendency to be easily distracted, I've honed my organizational skills over the years, crafting the Prosper Daily PlanTM. While this approach has allowed me to achieve more in a day than most do in a month, it also carried the risk of maintaining the status quo.

The danger lies in merely checking boxes and completing to-do lists, failing to tap into our full potential. - Brenda Byers

To truly advance, we must shift our focus from the present's demands to embracing a compelling future—a future driven by a clear vision, faith, and mental flexibility.

“The first step to farsighted decision-making is being connected to your future self”
“Building a connection to your future Self requires seeing your Future Self as a different person than who you are today.? This does not come naturally. As a rule, most people assume their Future Self is basically the same person they are today”

"Be Your Future Self" poses a crucial question:

Is our future determined by our present, or is our present molded by our power to believe in a compelling future?

Eager to take action, I wholeheartedly dove into the exercises outlined in the book.

Step one prompted me to explore my mental flexibility by reflecting on the changes in the past 10 years.

Looking at photos and journals from January 2014, I discovered a courageous yet frightened version of myself. I had not yet internalized the idea that everything is already IN me (Christ in me, the hope of glory) so I operated with a pervading sense of lack despite external confidence. I launched Prosper in All Things after my recent divorce, taking massive action creating 3 full day live events, 8 workshops and 36 Bible studies all in the first 6 months! Yet inwardly I still desperately craving love and grappling with self-acceptance.

Step two involved envisioning my future self a decade from now.

As I wrote a letter to my current self, I saw a remarkable transformation. Breaking through income limitations, embracing abundance, and leading a team of incredible leaders, managers and advisors, my future self owned homes and retreats worldwide, embodying health, love, and service with grace and peace.

Coming FROM not going TO

Since undertaking these exercises, my life has shifted in ways I never imagined. I now think, act, exercise, and eat FROM the perspective of my future self, realizing a power within me that goes beyond what I thought possible.

Have you tried this? I would love to hear about your experiences.

May we all continue to grow into the fullness of our potential, guided by faith, vision, and the unwavering belief in God’s faithfulness to complete that which He began IN us.

“And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” - Phil 1:6 AMPC
